An important milestone for Marin’s water future: The environmental review process for the Atmospheric River Capture (ARC) Project has officially begun.🌧️

Marin Water has released the Notice of Preparation for ARC’s Environmental Impact Report, kicking off a public comment period that runs until April 13, 2026.

What is ARC? A 13-mile pipeline that would allow us to capture surplus winter water from the Russian River during atmospheric river storms and store it in Nicasio Reservoir for use during droughts—exactly the kind of infrastructure we needed during the 2021-2022 water emergency.

Why does environmental review matter? Under California law (CEQA), we must thoroughly evaluate potential impacts on wildlife, waterways, air quality, traffic, and more. This ensures responsible project development and gives the community a voice in the process.

🗣️Your input is needed. The initial scoping period is your opportunity to weigh in on what environmental issues should be studied in the EIR. Comments can be submitted by email to
[email protected] or by mail until noon on April 13.
Building water resilience requires both smart infrastructure and transparent, inclusive planning.

How do we harness AI’s potential to revolutionize water management while protecting our critical infrastructure from new cybersecurity threats?

I moderated this crucial discussion at the Association of California Water Agencies’ (ACWA) Fall Conference, bringing together experts in water operations, IT systems, and cybersecurity. We explored practical strategies for California’s water agencies—from predictive maintenance and customer service automation to data governance and risk management.

The engaged audience and thoughtful questions showed just how timely these conversations are. As water systems evolve, we need to stay ahead of both the opportunities and the risks.

Honored to have been elected by water agencies across California’s North Coast to serve as Vice-Chair of the Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA) Region 1 for 2026-2027! 🎉

This role also means serving on ACWA’s statewide Board of Directors and its Finance Committee, where I’ll work alongside leaders from across California to address our shared water challenges and opportunities. 🤝

ACWA represents over 460 public water agencies serving 90% of Californians. I’m committed to bringing Northern California priorities to these statewide conversations while bringing the best innovations and practices back home to our communities. 🌿

Yesterday I officially launched my re-election campaign for the Marin Water Board and I’m incredibly grateful for the support I’ve already felt from our community. 🤝

Four years ago, I ran to bring science-based leadership, fiscal responsibility, and long-term planning to Marin Water. Since then, we’ve made real progress: eliminating the operating deficit, developing new water supplies, upgrading aging infrastructure, expanding environmental restoration, and improving wildfire prevention. 🌲
