Burn ban for Love County until 3/30. Please share and don’t burn!!!

This morning the Board of County Commissioners issued a burn ban for all of Love County to be effective immediately. This burn ban will be in effect for 14 days at which time the Board will reevaluate conditions and reconsider lifting the ban.

Remember that the fine for burning under a burn ban is significant and we would prefer not to have to issue citations for a burn ban violation so please refrain from outside burning for at least the next 14 days until they have a chance to reconsider the elements.

Tuesday, November 11th, is a No Burn Day! We are forecast for winds sustained at 20mph with even higher gusts and humidity in the 25% range which will make controlling any fire that is started very difficult. Please refrain from any activity that might start a fire.

While we did get some much needed rain across the county we are looking at some pretty stout winds tomorrow (Monday) which will dry out our brown vegetation quickly. Please refrain from outdoor burning tomorrow.

There is a large control burn today on Marlove/legate. Please do not call this fire into dispatch. Cedar tree brush piles will create lots of smoke. Please use caution while driving around that area. Any question please reach out to me

SOWC are flushing the lines in the Eastside area. The fire hydrant at the station is open for that reason. Please call SOWC if you have any concerns.
