• Austell - June 12
The Annual Austell “Midnight Train” Juneteenth Adults Only celebration will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 12th, at the Threadmill Complex, 5000 Austell Powder Springs Rd, Austell.

Bring your family and friends out for an afternoon filled with music, food, games, local vendors, and community connection, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Saturday, June 13, at Swift Cantrell Park, 3140 Old 41 Highway, Kennesaw. The parade and event are hosted by the Kennesaw Police Citizens Advisory Board.

The Cobb County NAACP will host its annual Juneteenth celebration June 19 – 21 at Historic Marietta Square and Glover Park. This multi-day, free event features a cultural festival, vendor booths, educational activities, and a salute to local heroes. The celebration honors emancipation while focusing on community unity.

Join like-minded parents on the third Saturday of every month to discuss challenges and successes, meet new parent friends, and learn about new resources at our parent support group.

Can you juggle a soccer ball with your feet?
Then you can make history and be a part of Cobb's attempt at setting a soccer world record on Saturday, June 6.

Cobb Travel & Tourism and the City of Smyrna are hosting an official Guinness World Record soccer challenge at the Smyrna Village Green Park, joining more than 30 cities worldwide to "kick off" the countdown to the FIFA World Cup.

The program begins at 11:30 a.m. and will feature professional football freestylers.
At 12:30 p.m., participants will juggle a soccer ball simultaneously for 10 seconds.

How to Participate:
Official record challengers must register in advance for $15, bring their own size 5 soccer ball, and be able to juggle it. Sign up at https://footballworldrecord.com/

Free festivities launch 4 - 6 p.m. Saturday, May 30, for this year's Cobb Library summer reading program. Four simultaneous, family-friendly kickoff celebrations will happen at Gritters Library in Marietta, South Cobb Regional Library in Mableton, Switzer Library in Marietta, and West Cobb Regional Library in Kennesaw. There will be activities, music, and crafts for the whole family.

The summer reading program will challenge residents of all ages to pick up a book, engage their curiosity, and celebrate community literacy June 1 - July 31. Participants can track their reading and activity achievements using the Beanstack platform (available via the mobile app or online). Local public school students can also sync their school Beanstack accounts directly with their public library accounts so their minutes count toward both challenges. To complete the challenge, participants log their minutes and activities to hit "BINGO" on their challenge cards. Prizes are available for kids and adults.

East Cobb Quilters' Guild Presents Georgia Celebrates Quilts, June 4-6 at the Cobb County Civic Center. This is the largest continued juried and judged Quilt Show in Georgia with over 300 quilts. The show is 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. each day and admission is $10. Children under 5 are free.

Make your next career move at a County-Wide Job Fair, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Saturday, May 30, at the Jim R. Miller Park and Event Center, 2245 Callaway Road SW, Marietta, hosted by the City of Kennesaw, in partnership with Cobb County and CobbWorks.

The free event will connect adult and youth job seekers with local employers, offering opportunities for both first-time workers and experienced professionals. Businesses of all sizes are encouraged to participate and showcase available positions to a diverse talent pool. No registration is required for job seekers.

Cobb County Commission Chairwoman Lisa Cupid delivered her annual State of the County address last week before several hundred residents at Jim Miller Park, outlining her top priorities and vision for the year ahead.

The address, a yearly tradition highlighting the county's achievements, challenges, and strategic direction, carried a festive FIFA World Cup theme this year, with attendees and the Chairwoman alike sporting soccer jerseys and banging thundersticks in anticipation of the global tournament coming to Atlanta this summer.

In her remarks, Cupid emphasized continued investments in infrastructure and public safety, and identified affordable housing as a central priority for the coming year.
