🙏🏼 GRATITUDE 🙏🏼

This past Saturday, we held our 9th Annual Golf Fundraiser in memory of Sheriff Marty Grisham, and we are incredibly grateful for the tremendous support we received.

More than 100 golfers came out to support our event, along with over 70 sponsors who generously contributed to its success. This year’s event was a resounding success, raising more money than any previous year. We are truly thankful for the generosity of the individuals, businesses, and organizations who continue to support this event and our office.

I would like to extend a special thank you to Falconhead Resort and Country Club for hosting us each year and for their generous donation of the course, carts, and prizes for the event. We greatly appreciate their continued support.

A sincere thank you also goes to Benchmark, our food vendor, for generously donating the lunch and snack packs provided to our golfers.

In the photos, you will see a banner displaying all of this year’s sponsors. Many of these businesses and individuals have supported this event for all nine years, which is a testament to the incredible support we receive from our community.

All proceeds from this event go directly toward training and equipment for the Love County Sheriff’s Office. These funds help ensure our deputies have the resources and training necessary to maintain the highest level of professionalism and service to the citizens of Love County.

We are already looking forward to next year’s event and continuing this tradition that Sheriff Marty Grisham started 9 years ago.

Burn Ban for Love County renewed by County Commissioners for 14 days due to projected temperatures and weather forecast.

The burn ban has been renewed for 14 more days. Please be cautious with any activity that may cause a fire.

We have been asked to put out a reminder that even though we received some rain yesterday, we are still under a burn ban. Please refrain from any outside burning. The County Commissioners will reassess the ban in their next meeting on Monday.

‼️ LARGE METHAMPHETAMINE SEIZURE ‼️

Last night Deputy Cody Powell was patrolling on I-35 when he noticed a vehicle commit traffic violations. He initiated a stop on the vehicle.

While conducting his traffic enforcement he learned that 2 of the 3 occupants had warrants out of other jurisdictions in Oklahoma. Also while talking with the individuals he ascertained that all 3 occupants were exhibiting signs of extreme nervousness above what is normal on a traffic stop. Through further conversation Deputy Powell developed enough reasonable suspicion to ask for consent to search the car which was ultimately denied.

Because K9 Bobby was off duty and not available Powell reached out to our partners at the Ardmore Police Department and requested K9 Riggs and his handler Corporal Johnson. K9 Riggs ultimately alerted to the presence of the odor of narcotics giving probable cause to search the car.

A search of the car revealed a black duffle bag with (6) gallon size ziplock bags containing Methamphetamine. The 3 occupants were arrested at the scene and charges will be presented for aggravated drug trafficking.

The drugs were later weighed revealing a presumptive weight of 13lbs 8ounces of Methamphetamine and had a presumptive positive test for Methamphetamine and will be sent to OSBI for an official weight and testing.

A huge thank you to Corporal Johnson and K9 Riggs of the Ardmore Police Department for assisting Deputy Powell. As well as Officers from the Thackerville Police Department and the Marietta Police Department who assisted on the stop and with transport.

Another great example of proactive policing by our agency and how teamwork leads to positive outcomes.

Last week Deputies attended the Love County Free Fair kids extravaganza at the Love County Fair Grounds.

This day is always a special one because we get to meet with kids from all over Love County and show them our police cruisers. It’s always a delight to see the joy and excitement on their faces when they press the siren button and turn the emergency lights on. It’s also a great time to teach the importance of when to call 911 and how to be safe.

Thank you to the event planners and volunteers who always make this event such a success.

Know before you travel. Traffic congestion will for sure be an issue.

I-35 closed at Texas state line Tuesday night

All lanes of southbound I-35 will be closed just south of the Texas state line from 7 p.m. Tuesday to 7 a.m. Wednesday for a TxDOT I-35 expansion project. Traffic will be diverted to the I-35 frontage road. For questions about this project, contact TxDOT at 940-665-5312.

Drivers should expect delays and use caution in the work zone.
