We’re so excited for the warm, sunny months! ☀️As you and your family start enjoying the sun and spending more time outside, we want to remind you about the importance of sun protection!

Here are some helpful tips to keep your little ones safe in the sun this summer:

☀️Instead of sunscreen, keep babies 6 months and under in shaded areas and use sun-protective clothing items to protect their skin.
☀️Utilize sun-protection accessories like sunhats and sunglasses.
☀️Use baby-safe sunscreens with mineral filters to prevent skin irritation.
☀️Reapply! Make sure you take breaks in outdoor play to reset and reapply sunscreen especially after swimming.

Strawberries are the WIC-approved food of the month! Strawberries are filled with antioxidants and vitamins, including vitamin C, which helps support your immune system! These berries can also improve both heart health and blood sugar, making them a great healthy snack.

There are three different summer food programs available in Morgan County this summer! These programs are not sponsored by Early Intervention, but we wanted to share them as a resource for families in our community.

For more than 96 years, Louis Murphy has called Morgan County home. For the past six years, she has been receiving home-delivered meals through Washington-Morgan Community Action, helping her maintain her independence and continue living in the community she loves.

Louis enjoys taking walks around her apartment complex, sharing smiles and brightening the days of her neighbors. Her favorite meal is liver and onions with mashed potatoes, with baked chicken coming in a close second. Most of all, she loves spending time with her grandchildren, whose visits keep her active and bring her tremendous joy.

Stories like Louis's demonstrate the impact of community investment. Through the support of United Way of Muskingum, Perry, and Morgan Counties, Washington-Morgan Community Action can provide home-delivered meals that do more than meet nutritional needs—they offer connection, promote independence, and help ensure seniors can remain safely in their homes.

United Way's funding helps strengthen programs that support older adults across our region, creating a network of care that reaches some of our most vulnerable neighbors. By bringing together donors, volunteers, and community partners, we are helping improve quality of life and ensuring that individuals like Louis continue to receive the support they need to thrive.

Together, we are building stronger, healthier communities—one neighbor at a time.

In observance of Memorial Day, Washington-Morgan Community Action will be closed on Monday, May 25.

Today, we honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. We are grateful for their courage and dedication.

Our offices will reopen during normal business hours on Tuesday, May 26.

We wish everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day holiday.
