The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of
Far Southeast Indiana
Extreme Northern Kentucky
Ohio
Western Pennsylvania
Northern West Virginia
Lake Erie

* Effective this Sunday afternoon and evening from 1225 PM until
800 PM CDT.

* Primary threats include...
Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph likely
Isolated large hail events to 1 inch in diameter possible
A tornado or two possible

SUMMARY...Thunderstorm development is expected to increase in
coverage and intensity along and ahead of a cold front moving
eastward across the Ohio Valley. Damaging wind gusts will be the
primary severe hazard, although isolated hail is possible within the
strongest updrafts. A low-probability threat for a line-embedded
tornado exists as well, particularly across eastern Ohio and western
Pennsylvania later this afternoon/early evening.

The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 135
statute miles east and west of a line from 20 miles east northeast
of Cleveland OH to 20 miles south southwest of Athens OH. For a

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
tornadoes.

AVIATION...A few severe thunderstorms with hail surface and aloft to
1 inch. Extreme turbulence and surface wind gusts to 60 knots. A few
cumulonimbi with maximum tops to 500. Mean storm motion vector

State Commendation Honors Kevin and Jacinda Carr for 66 Years of Service

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is proud to recognize Major Kevin Carr and Jacinda Carr for receiving a commendation from the 136th General Assembly of Ohio. The commendation was presented by State Representative Kevin Ritter on behalf of Speaker Matt Huffman in recognition of their unwavering commitment and dedication to the citizens of Washington County.
Together, Kevin and Jacinda Carr have dedicated a combined 66 years of service to Washington County, serving in numerous roles throughout the Sheriff’s Office. Their careers have included service within the Corrections, Criminal, and Civil Divisions, where they have consistently demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to public service.
Their dedication has positively impacted countless citizens, coworkers, and community members throughout their distinguished careers. This commendation reflects not only their years of service but also the lasting contributions they have made to the safety and well-being of Washington County.

At 329 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from Chesterhill to Parkersburg to near Grantsville.
Movement was northeast at 25 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.

Locations impacted include...
Parkersburg, Marietta, Belpre, Harrisville, St. Marys,
McConnelsville, Beverly, Elizabeth, Middlebourne, Chesterhill,
Vienna, Williamstown, Paden City, Sistersville, Pennsboro, Belmont,
West Union, Mineralwells, North Bend State Park, and Lubeck.

This includes the following highways...
Interstate 77 in West Virginia between mile markers 167 and 186.
Interstate 77 in Ohio between mile markers 1 and 17.
Route 50 in West Virginia between mile markers 1 and 55.
