We had a really good day at the Fire Station. We had some projects we need to complete.

Last month we had to put our Engine down for a repair of the valve between the tank and the pump. Tim Boatright repaired the valve and had a team there to put it back in place today It was a success and the engine is back in service.

We also had to replace the old 8’ light fixtures in the bay. There were nine of them. We replaced them with 8 foot LED fixtures.

We also finished up the paperwork for the Oklahoma Forestry Maintenance and Operation Grant funds. We spent enough money to qualify for a new one for Fiscal Year 2026.

Thanks to Tim Boatright, Amber Boatright, Austin Roberts, James King, Allen Hicks and Cody Hicks. Also special thanks to Lance Christie and Dr. O’Connor. Dr. O’Connor brought us 🍩.

We have all our equipment ready for just about any incident that we might have to respond on.

Have a great weekend everyone.

There will be a Shady Dale FD Firefighter Meeting this Sunday, May 4th at 2:00 PM. As always, the public is always welcomed to our meetings.

This month will be an election month. All staff officers are up for election for another two years. We need good leadership to keep the department strong and moving forward towards the future.

Please stay safe while driving around the area. There has been a lot of rain, and the rivers and streams are flowing fast and dangerously.

I will try to keep updates on this page as quickly as I can.

Thanksgiving is upon us and the weather will be getting colder over the next several days.

With this said, please be careful if you are traveling or if you plan on deep frying your turkey. Please follow the rules/instructions about where to cook it and how to put the turkey in your pot. It can be very dangerous, but if done correctly, very enjoyable for all.

Remember to cover your pipes and take care of your outdoor animals. Make sure if you use heat lamps to follow instruction and keep them far away from combustible items. Better to be safe than burn down your house, garage or barns. As well as injure your pets or animals.

As always, your local fire departments are here to help. But remember we are volunteers and may not be around our place due to visiting friends and/or relatives. We have many fire departments in the county, and it might take additional ones to help put out fires if they occur. Be patient and remember we have lives too and we are here to help if we are available.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Good morning, everyone. It has been a while since I have posted anything.

The Love County Commissioners have passed a BURN BAN for Love County today. This means no burning outdoors for any reason. Today is definitely not a good day to burn.

We have changed our outdoor sign at the Fire Station to reflect this change. There may be a short warning period, but don't expect any leniency from Law Enforcement or Fire Department. Very High Fire Danger today.

Stay safe and if you see someone burning, advise them to put it out or call the Love County Dispatch Center. We want to educate people, not ruin their day.

Good morning everyone. This week has started out well. I am so excited to announce that one of my firefighters is attending the OSU Firefighter I Class this week. Austin Roberts, has been with my department for the past three plus years.

Austin will be up in Stillwater, OK for the next two weeks. This is a very demanding class, and I am sure he will do a great job. He has been exercising and getting prepared for this class for the past several months. The Chickasaw Nation has also been a supporter of his and has assisted with the cost of attending this class. Thank you for your support The Chickasaw Nation.

Austin left yesterday, Sunday, April 14th around noon to get up to Stillwater. The class started last night at 6:00 PM. Along with his own personal affects, he also took about $10,000 worth of Shady Dale Fire Department equipment with him. This includes bunker gear, wildland gear, a Scott SCBA and an extra bottle. Also, gloves, goggles, Nomex hoods, helmets and his radio.

We look forward to hearing how the class is going and how well he does. The Shady Dale Fire Department supports is efforts and desire to become more educated in the field of firefighting, and possibly becoming a Professional Firefighter. Best of luck and have fun Austin. It will be a long two-week ordeal but will be worth it when you complete it.

Good morning everyone. I hope everyone had a great weekend.

Yesterday afternoon, we were dispatched to a grass fire on US Highway77 and Shady Dale Road.

Upon our arrival, we found a lot of heavy white smoke from green vegetation being consumed by fire. The fires were multiple small fires that burnt from Burkhart Road to just north of Shady Dale Road. This is about a mile in length. Most of the fires were very small and put out by the Fire Department or civilians. The largest of these fire was about three (3) acres.

We were assisted by Marietta, Thackerville and Enville VFDs.

We had one bad incident while on scene. A SUV ran into the back of Marietta’s Tanker at full speed. The SUV was totaled. The Tanker sustained some damage, including a blown rear tire. No injuries to the occupants of the two vehicles.

This has always been a big fear for me out on these fires. People ignore what’s happening and are too selfish for their own desires.

I want to also thank those who slowed down and our neighbors who helped to put out the smaller fires.

Because Marietta’s Tanker got hit, it is out of commission until repairs can be made to it.

I hope everyone has a great week and we can watch the Solar Eclipse this afternoon.

Last night we were called to assist Marietta and Greenville Fire Departments with a structure fire located in a small trailer park inside city limits. Our department was well represented with a six person crew that included a variety of ranks and a wealth of experience. Firefighters Austin Roberts and Cody Hicks stepped up to help with ventilation on the roof and did a fantastic job! It was a great hands-on lesson for them both.

This call was also a good lesson on how not to extinguish a grease fire (do NOT use water, in case you were wondering)

Fortunately the fire was contained to one structure and was extinguished before the home became fully involved.
