The Deputy City Manager (DCM) is a key member of Maricopa’s executive leadership team, responsible for ensuring the day-to-day operations of assigned areas function at an optimal level and align with the City’s mission, objectives, and strategic priorities. The DCM directly oversees assigned Directors and Division Managers and other assigned staff while helping drive innovation, organizational effectiveness, and continuous improvement. Maricopa’s ideal DCM will be a consensus builder and relationship-driven executive who can establish trust internally while developing productive partnerships throughout the region and state. The successful candidate will understand the political environment of municipal government and know how to navigate complex issues with professionalism and sound judgment.

Required qualifications include:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in public
administration, business administration, finance, communications, or a closely related field.
• Five years of management experience in administration, finance, or management with a local government agency or business in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
• Local government experience is necessary for this position.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver’s license or obtain one within 30 days of hire, unless a qualifying military-related exception applies.

Preferred:
• Master’s degree.
• Executive-level experience as a City Manager, Assistant City Manager, Deputy City Manager, or comparable position.

The salary range for this position is $186,000–$224,000, depending on experience and qualifications.

September 15 City Council Meeting Canceled

The City Council last met on Sept. 1 and no items have been submitted for the upcoming Sept.15 agenda, as a result, the Sept. 15 meeting is cancelled.

Per City Code, a regular City Council meeting may be canceled when there is no official business to conduct and at least one meeting has already been held during the month.

The next regular meeting is scheduled for October 6.
