OK all, we got the time capsule contents cleaned up and I'm happy to report that I was able to piece together the large schedule of events with all the signatures on the back - I was able to save all the signatures. Everything has been either laminated or put in document protectors so it'll all be available for inspection at the township hall during the All Town Reunion on the 5th of July.

Hi friends of Marenisco. In preparation for our amazing 4th of July Celebration, All Town Reunion and 4th Annual Marenisco Music Festival. Dean and I retrieved and opened the Bicentennial time capsule buried July 4, 1976. It was much more than anticipated. The vault was huge and cemented shut. Dean had to use a concrete saw to gain access. Inside the metal lined vault was some standing water and the actual time capsule which was an 18 inch long piece of 2 inch galvanized pipe with threaded caps. After getting the capsule open we found that after 50 years there was some water infiltration of the contents. We finally got all the contents removed (after much struggle) and saved as much as we could. Tomorrow, I will clean it all up as best I can and it will all be on display on Sunday the 5th of July in the township hall at the All Town Reunion. Please look but don't touch, it's contents are very fragile. After the weekend it will all be transferred to the Marenisco Heritage Museum. Hope to see you this weekend.
