3 of our fire cadets graduated their certified firefighter program at the Delaware Area Career Center. They have spent the last several months undertaking nearly 270 hours of training. As tradition, the BWJFD command staff attended to show support. Welcome to the fire service!

We provided mutual aid to Perry Congress Fire District, along with Mount Gilead Fire Department , Cardington Fire Department , Fredericktown Community Fire District , Morrow County EMS and many other agencies to a large commercial fire on Road 4 in Troy Township.

Today 3 of our new Fire Cadets are conducting their "live burn" portion of their firefighter certification at DACC. Accompanying them is the older brother of our cadets, who serves as a captain on BWJFD!

Early this morning, BWJFD responded with Morrow County EMS and Ohio State Highway Patrol to a rollover crash in Harmony Township. EMS arrived in 8 min and 5 sec from dispatch, and Fire Chief 301 arrived in 9 min and 20 sec. Marengo’s Engine 33 also responded to assist, arriving on scene 25 min and 12 sec after the initial dispatch, staffed by a fire captain and a fire cadet.

Before fire and EMS arrived, the driver had already fled the scene on foot. During the incident, Fire Chief 301 located an injured dog still inside the vehicle, removed it safely, and transported it to COVE Veterinary Hospital in Delaware City. When the animal was cleared, the fire chief brought the dog back to her home in Harmony Township and cared for it until a responsible party came forward to claim it.

We are grateful for the coordinated response of all agencies involved and hope for a full recovery for the dog. We are especially thankful for COVE Animal Care for their kindness and cooperation.
