🚦 Traffic Signal Update 🚦

The Milltown Police Department would like to provide an update regarding the Milltown caution light.

After speaking with INDOT today, we were advised they are currently awaiting repairs from Duke Energy before work can be completed on the caution light.

INDOT has advised that repairs are scheduled to be completed on Monday, and the caution light should be operational following those repairs.

Until the signal is restored, motorists are encouraged to use extra caution while traveling through the area, remain alert, and watch for other vehicles and pedestrians.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as these repairs are completed.

PRESCRIBED FIRE PLANNED 04.10.26 - Birdseye Trail temporary closure

We are planning a prescribed fire for Friday, April 10, on 503 acres in Crawford County. The Riceville Unit is located south of Patoka Lake, between state roads 145 and 37, east of Birdseye, IN.

The goal of this fire is to reduce hazardous fuels in and near the urban interface to mitigate impacts to life, property and infrastructure in the event of a wildfire. The second goal is to promote, restore and maintain forest and woodland by reducing shade tolerant trees and promoting oak-hickory regeneration where appropriate. Fire is the most efficient tool to accomplish this goal.

Ignition is tentatively planned for 11:00 a.m. EDT. The area will be temporarily closed to the public for safety, including the northeast section of Birdseye Trail. Watch for signs indicating closed areas. If you encounter smoke on the road, slow down and turn on your headlights.
