Marco Island Fire Rescue responded to a fire alarm this evening after a resident noticed an unusual odor and activated a pull station.

Upon arrival, crews found a light haze inside the building and began evacuating residents. The incident was upgraded to a full structure fire assignment and declared a working incident to bring in additional resources.

Approximately 30 residents have been displaced. No injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. We appreciate the cooperation of all residents and the work of the first responders on scene.

Honoring 25 Years of Courage and Sacrifice

The Marco Island Police Department, in collaboration with Marco Island Fire Rescue, is proud to unveil the next release in our community sticker series.

This special sticker commemorates the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, and honors the nearly 3,000 lives lost, the first responders who ran toward danger and all those whose lives were forever changed.

This tribute carries an especially personal meaning for our departments. Several members of our public safety family previously served with the New York City Police Department or New York City Fire Department and answered the call on that tragic day. Their courage, service and firsthand connection to September 11 remain an important part of who we are today.

We will never forget.

🔥 North Texas Deployment Update

Marco Island firefighters departed for Texas on Friday with Brush 50. After arriving in Mobile, Alabama, they joined Florida Strike Team units from Pasco, Polk and Hernando counties, along with the City of North Port. The team arrived in Palo Pinto, Texas, on Saturday.

After reporting to staging Sunday morning, crews were immediately assigned to the Ross Fire. Throughout the week, firefighters have worked in Division W, where they have:

• Monitored and extinguished spot fires
• Protected high-value properties and livestock
• Conducted burnout operations
• Patrolled fire lines to ensure they remain secure

The Ross Fire has grown to approximately 90,000 acres and is 31% contained.

Please join us in recognizing our Marco Island firefighters and the emergency personnel from Florida and across the country who are working tirelessly to protect communities threatened by wildfires.

Civilian Helps Rescue Woman from Water Near Jolley Bridge

This afternoon, Marco Island Fire Rescue and the Marco Island Police Department responded to a marine emergency near the Jolley Bridge after a caller reported seeing a woman fall from her paddleboard and struggle in the water.

The Marine Emergency Response Team was activated, and multiple marine units were dispatched.

While first responders were on their way, a bystander named Patty saw the woman in distress and immediately took action. Patty entered the water from shore and swam approximately 300 yards to reach the woman, Shannon, and help her return safely to shore.

Both women met with first responders at the scene and were unharmed.

Please join us in thanking Patty for her courage and willingness to help someone in need. Her quick actions may have saved a life and helped bring this incident to a happy ending.

⚡ LCEC WORK NOTICE

The City of Marco Island has been notified that LCEC crews will perform work near 600 S. Collier Blvd. on Wednesday, Sept. 2.

Work is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m., with LCEC crews expected on-site around 8:30 a.m. Crews will replace a piece of electrical equipment.

Please use caution while traveling through the area and watch for workers and service vehicles.

The City of Marco Island is proud to congratulate our Human Resources Director, Diana Snover, MSHR, who was honored with a Hero’s Award today at the Collier County Emergency Readiness Summit!

Diana received the award for her lifesaving actions when a patron collapsed at a local restaurant. Without hesitation, she stepped in and began performing CPR, continuing chest compressions until first responders arrived. Her quick thinking, training and willingness to act helped save a life.

Diana’s actions are an important reminder of the critical role bystander CPR can play during a cardiac emergency. The minutes before first responders arrive matter, and immediate chest compressions can help keep blood flowing to the brain and other vital organs until advanced care arrives.

Congratulations, Diana, on this well-deserved recognition, and thank you for stepping up when every second counted!

Marco Island Fire Rescue Deploys to Texas Wildfires

Today, Marco Island Fire Rescue answered the call to help a community in need.

As a member of Florida DEM Region 6, Marco Island Fire Rescue was requested to deploy personnel and equipment to assist with the devastating wildfires burning in Texas.

Brush 50 and two Marco Island firefighters are deploying to Palo Pinto, Texas, as part of a Florida Strike Team assisting with firefighting efforts at the Ross Fire, which has grown to more than 85,000 acres. The deployment is expected to last approximately two weeks.

Marco Island has relied on mutual aid from agencies across the country following hurricanes and other major incidents. This deployment is an opportunity for us to return that support and help another community during its time of need.

Part of keeping you safe means making sure our equipment is ready to go when an emergency happens.

This morning, Marco Island Fire Rescue firefighters completed their routine apparatus checks on Tower 50, our ladder truck.

Apparatus checks are an important part of every shift. Crews inspect the truck, test critical equipment, check tools and safety gear, and make sure everything is properly stocked and functioning as it should.

These checks help identify potential issues before an emergency happens, because when the call comes in, our firefighters and their equipment need to be ready to respond.

It may look routine, but preparation like this is an important part of protecting our community every day.

When the Alarm Sounds, Get Out

Have you ever seen one of our fire trucks responding through Marco Island? Our crews could be heading to any number of emergencies, including a reported fire alarm.

Today, we’re highlighting a simple but important reminder: if you hear a fire alarm in your building, evacuate.

Don’t assume it’s a false alarm or wait to see what everyone else is doing. Leave the building using the nearest safe exit, avoid elevators, and move to a safe location away from the building. Once you’re out, stay out until firefighters or building officials tell you it’s safe to return.

Fire alarms are designed to give you the time you need to get to safety, and every activation should be taken seriously.
