Thanks
Here are some fun facts for you to share with the family while you enjoy your leftover Thanksgiving turkey sandwich!
1. We're big fans of turkeys here in Collier County, so much so that in 1923 the Board of County Commissioners adopted the wild turkey as our emblem! In 1962, after moving the county seat to East Naples, the turkey was incorporated into our county seal.
2. There are 2 subspecies of wild turkey in Florida, the eastern wild turkey and the Osceola or Florida wild turkey. Florida wild turkeys only exist in the peninsular part of the state, because in the panhandle they interbreed with the eastern subspecies.
