Good morning neighbors! If you are affected by this mornings power outage please be safe, and please use caution when using anything from candles to generators. Make sure the area near any open flame lamps, or candles is kept clear. Please run generators only outdoors. Never run them inside, even in a garage the exhuast fumes can be fatal. Please keep power cords, and space heaters clear and secured as well as possible. Stay safe and stay warm my friends!

Report a power outage to Puget Sound Energy or see where the power is out. You can use the PSE outage map to see current outages, as well as restoration times. Restoration times are estimates. During a major storm, it can take 24 hours or longer to provide updated information on power restoration.

Skagit County Burn Ban Lifts ON SEPTEMBER 11.

The Fire Marshall is lifting the burn ban on residential yard and land-clearing fires in unincorporated Skagit County (outside of city limits) starting Wednesday, September 11th.

This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t exercise caution if you decide to have an outdoor fire. Burn permits are still required on all burn piles that are larger than four feet by four feet. Requests for burn permits can be submitted to the Skagit County Fire Marshal’s office by phone at 360-416-1840.

Please burn responsibly. All residential yard and land-clearing fires may only contain natural vegetation (leaves, grass, and tree trimmings). Garbage, household trash, lumber, building construction waste, and demolition debris may not be burned.

Contact the Skagit County Fire Marshal’s office at 360-416-1840 with questions about outdoor burning.

Helpful information on outdoor burning is also available on the County website: http://www.skagitcounty.net/Departments/FireMarshal/burning.htm

As the chilly crisp fall days and nights aproach, now is a good time to schedule inspections and cleaning. Chimney, brick, cement, stone, stove pipe, or any other kind of home heating exhaust system should be inspected, and cleaned annually. Each year in the USA between 20,000 and 25,000 chimney fires happen. Don't let your home become one of them.
