We need to credit a lot of our success to our 911 Dispatchers, Maquoketa Police Department, Jackson County Iowa Sheriff's Office, Jackson County Regional Health Center, Alliance Water Resources, Public Works, and the City of Maquoketa Staff. Also a big THANK YOU to all of our citizens for your continued support!

Every week at the City we ask the Department Heads to provide an update on some basic operations in each Department and to provide a photo or two. Last week the Maquoketa FD, which covers 144 square miles in Eastern Iowa, had their weekly training...this time on trench rescue operations and equipment familiarity for such events. Our FD call volume is trending VERY WELL in 2025. KNOCK ON WOOD! Maquoketa FD really believes their fire prevention messaging and Community support helps keep our whole area aware of fire risks. So thank you. It really helps keep everyone safe and protected.

On the ISO scale of 1 (best) to 10 (worst), the Maquoketa FD maintains a 3 which is the highest rating a volunteer department could possibly have. This positive rating helps keep fire risk and response capacity in the best possible condition for when our property insurance companies assess risk and apply cost of premium to us all.

Go Maquoketa FD and they are always looking for good and committed volunteers!
