This incident is under investigation by the Maplewood Police Department’s Detective Bureau.

The Maplewood Police Department is incredibly proud of our Junior Police Academy recruits who participated in the **first-ever Junior Police Academy Olympics!** Our recruits showed teamwork, sportsmanship, determination, and true Maplewood pride from start to finish.

A special **thank you to Essex County Youth Services and Jason Martinez** for putting together an incredible event and giving our young recruits an opportunity to compete, build friendships, and create memories they will never forget.

For years, Willie Mae proudly served our community at the corner of **South Pierson Road and Valley Street**, greeting children, families, and motorists with a smile while helping keep our residents safe.

Her dedication, kindness, and commitment to the children of Maplewood will not be forgotten. Thank you, Willie Mae, for all the mornings, afternoons, smiles, and safe crossings. You have truly made a difference in our community.
