What are the odds? When shelving books, staff noticed that the labels of these two books that belong next to eachother read "best friend," and the books just happen to be about our very best friends- dogs! 🐶 What little coincidences have made you smile lately?

Image descriptions: 1) books lined up on a shelf, the two in focus have labels that read "best" and "friend." 2) Cover images of the books The Best Dog in the World and Dog Only Knows.

Pin trading has come to the Library! Swap your old pins out for something new! The rules are simple: enamel pins only (no buttons), and only take a pin if you leave a pin (or take two/ leave two, take three/leave three, and so on). Stop by during regular Library hours to check it out!

Video description: video starts by showing the rules as outlined in the post, then pans down to a banner with multiple enamel pins on it. Instrumental music plays in the background.

ICYMI: our 2026 Summer Challenge begins today! Challenge cards for all ages can be picked up at the Library, and adult challenge cards can also be printed from maplewoodpubliclibrary.org/adult-programs/. Read, participate in Library activities, and complete other challenges to be entered to win fun prizes! All entries must by submitted by Saturday, August 1.

Plant a Seed, Read is rooted in the concept of farm to table. A farm grows food that nourishes our bodies; a library grows ideas that nourish our minds. Both food and stories connect us to our family, culture, economy, and ecology. We hope you'll join us in reading, learning, and growing!
