In addition to honoring this year's winners, Niyoka Powell, Michelle 'Riendeau' Sztabor, and Catherine Rodgers, we have lots of guest speakers. Today's announcement, Karen Dalton Author, speaker, business owner, and founder/Executive Vice President of Dare to Dream Ranch, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting veterans, service members, and their families through alternative therapy programs and community outreach. Karen is a passionate advocate for veterans, working to combat PTSD, homelessness, food insecurity, and the invisible wounds of service through equine therapy, service dog training, gardening, and wellness initiatives. Yesterday was such a fun day! The ladies were gorgeous and the gentlemen dapper. The room was electric as we watched Golden Tempo come from behind and take the win! Ooh...and did I mention the food? The options were endless and delicious! Thank you all who helped make this event a success.

On May 4, 1776, Rhode Island made history.

Two months before the Declaration of Independence, our small state became the first colony to formally renounce allegiance to the British Crown.

That matters....

Before America declared independence, Rhode Island had already stepped forward and said: we will govern ourselves, we will defend our liberties, and we will not bow to a government that ignores the rights of its people.

May 4, 1776 is not just a date in Rhode Island history. It is a reminder that courage often starts in small places with people willing to stand up first.
