The character of our community is about togetherness and being present with each other to build an even stronger community. It's more about smart planning than it is about huge business deals. It’s more about realistic scope than fearmongering to convince citizens that we need to do “big city” things to prevent from having to raise taxes. Mapleton is stable financially and it looks to be even more stable with our new fiber network. We do not, nor will we need to raise taxes. I envision careful planning and stable economics. I envision wise savings and living within our budget. Clearer distinguishing between wants and needs.
Now, that being said, should we be always looking for creative revenue for the future?? Absolutely! I’ve always supported that, including potentially creating our own energy enterprise (if it pencils out), deploying wildland firefighting crews (already penciled out), and any other feasible revenue sources! We will work together as a leadership team to study these out and welcome even more ideas! Let's strategically do it together as leaders and as community members. Go Mapleton! Go vote!

Here's where to submit your ballot's! Don't forget 😀!

Please don't forget to fill out and turn in your ballots!!

Election day is just five days away! Make a plan to vote if you haven't done so already!

Early Voting – In-person early voting is available 8AM to 5PM today and tomorrow at the Utah County Elections Office at 100 E Center Street, Suite 3100 Provo, UT 84606. If you are not already registered we can process a same day registration when you cast your ballot in-person.

Election Day Vote Centers – We will have ten in-person vote centers open throughout Utah County on election day from 7AM to 8PM. Visit a vote center for classic in-person voting or to do a same day registration if you are not yet registered to vote.

Ballot Dropboxes – We have 27 Ballot Dropboxes open 24/7 through close of polls at 8PM on election day to accept by-mail ballots. Ballots from these boxes are frequently picked up and the boxes themselves are subject to 24/7 video surveillance to secure your by-mail ballot.

US Postal Service – With limited time remaining until election day, consider voting in-person or using a ballot dropbox to ensure that your ballot is received on time and counted. If you must use the postal service, send your ballot as soon as possible and consider speaking to a postal service employee about what the processing timeline looks like. Remember, we must receive your ballot by 8PM on election day for it to count.

REMINDER: Utah has a new by-mail ballot deadline. We must receive your ballot by 8PM on election day for it to count. If you are planning to vote in-person or drop your ballot into a dropbox, make sure to do so by that 8PM deadline as well. We will have staff designate last voters in line at vote centers and dropboxes at 8PM when polls close.

Here are a few more things I bring to the table as a candidate for Mayor:
• Experience in my professional career and in my years of involvement with Mapleton citizens, I have developed a style of leadership in approaching new projects with an angle of cooperation, cohesiveness, and inclusivity of all stakeholders and I do this from the beginning of the idea. This style of approach is just what our neighbors deserve.
• As a small part of what I do professionally, I set the vision for and oversee the procurement of a very large fleet of commercial and non-commercial vehicles and apparatus. I have and will continue to work with all city departments to help cut costs, ensure reliability, and save millions of dollars on future fleet expenses for Mapleton’s growing fleet needs.
• I am working on finishing a master’s degree in construction management. A decision I made a few years ago to help me specifically understand the world of residential and commercial development. Not to become a developer myself but to better understand that industry. I am doing my thesis on how new technology has affected and how it can continue to be effective specifically in housing affordability. This helps me bring to the table exactly the skills and knowledge of current housing challenges, a better ability to negotiate with developers as a non-developer myself and seek ways we can work to make housing more affordable, not just here in Mapleton but all over the state of Utah.

A few highlights of things I've accomplished and continue to do in my terms of public service:
* Instrumental in starting and guiding the updates to Mapleton’s General Plan while I was the chair of the Planning Commission.
* Instrumental in starting and guiding the steering committee of local residents to create Mapleton's Trails Master Plan, including earmarking land for a mountain bike park in the public foothills. Adding key access points to prime public lands that residents previously did not have access to. Creating the design of over 50 miles of multi-use trails all along the face of the mountain and up into the canyons. I will continue to work towards finding grant funds to pay for developing those trails.
* Active voting member of Utah League of Cities & Towns where I study and use my voting power to encourage the League to push for state legislation that benefits cities like Mapleton and discourage legislation that results in negative effects.

More to come! Reach out to me if you’d like to attend or host a cottage meeting with me!
