City of Maple Valley, WA - Government The City is one of the fastest growing in Washington State. The population (as of 2024) is 28,553 and ranks 41st in the State by population.

From 2000 – 2010 the City grew nearly 63% - the 17th fastest growing city in the State during that period. The City of Maple Valley incorporated August 31, 1997. The City is 5.8 square miles, located east of Kent and Covington, and north of Black Diamond. Maple Valley is located about 30 minutes east of Seattle and Tacoma, equidistant from the water of Puget Sound and the landscapes of the Cascad

City offices are closed Monday and will reopen Tuesday, September 8 at 8:00 a.m.

Public Health – Seattle & King County has issued a Tier I Warning Advisory for Lake Wilderness after testing confirmed that cyanotoxin levels exceed the recommended public health guidance value.

On Wednesday, September 9 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. (pausing in the morning and afternoon for school buses), water main repair overlay paving will take place on Witte Road & 256th.

Drivers should expect delays as Witte Road goes down to one lane in the work zone. If possible, please use alternate routes.

National Preparedness Month: Week 1 — Take the First Step — Meet Your Neighbors 🏡

Emergency preparedness doesn't just start with a go-bag — it starts with knowing the people next door.

Take a moment this week to think about your neighbors. Who are they? Do you know them well? Do you have each other's contact info?

Knowing your neighbors is the first step in building a community that can support one another when disaster strikes. Because when the power's out, the roads are blocked, or help is delayed — it's often the person next door who shows up first.

Start small this week:
▪️Introduce yourself to a neighbor you haven't met
▪️Set up a neighborhood group chat
▪️Choose a trusted neighbor as your emergency contact

Building trust before a disaster makes it easier to ask for help — and to offer it — when it's needed most.

The weather was perfect Sunday for the 2026 Bike Challenge at Lake Wilderness Park! We truly could not host the race without the incredible support of the Tahoma Mountain Bike Team and we want to share a very special thank you for making the event possible!

This year's race medals were our best yet and the top three racers in each age and gender division took home hardware. 🏅🚲

Official race results and times have not been posted just yet. As soon as they are available, parents will receive an e-mail announcing they have been posted to our website.

If you missed this year's race… save the date for 2027! We will see you on the trail.
