The City is 5.8 square miles, located east of Kent and Covington, and north of Black Diamond. REMINDER | The City of Maple Valley requires most door-to-door salespeople (peddlers and solicitors) to obtain a City-issued Peddler's License.

Licensed peddlers must carry a City of Maple Valley Peddler's License and show it upon request. Solicitors must also follow hours allowed by City ordinance -- those are:
▪️Mon–Fri: 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
▪️Sat: 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
▪️Sun: 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

If a solicitor does not have a license or refuses to show it:
▪️Do not engage further.
▪️Get a description (person, company, vehicle) if you feel safe doing so.
▪️Report it to the Maple Valley Police Department (King County Sheriff’s Office) non‑emergency line: 206‑296‑3311.
▪️You may also notify the City so staff can follow up with permitting questions: [email protected] or 425‑413‑8800.

Your rights as a resident regarding solicitors:
▪️You can post a “No Soliciting” sign, licensed peddlers must honor it.
▪️You are never required to open your door or provide personal information.
▪️If something feels off, call non‑emergency or 9-1-1 if you feel threatened or unsafe.

Common exemptions (these groups do not need a peddler’s license):
▪️Charitable, religious, or political canvassing
▪️Youth fundraising for schools, scouts, or sports
▪️Delivery services

Tahoma High School Cheerleader Week 📣

At the June 8 City Council meeting, Maple Valley Council proclaimed the week of June 8 as Tahoma High School Cheerleader Week. It's never too late to celebrate and honor this outstanding group of people. We urge all residents to "Beware of the Bear" as we continue to celebrate them this week. 🐻

Maple Valley Days activities extend to the Lodge -- where the Maple Valley Creative Arts Council will host its 27th annual Maple Valley Days Arts Festival this weekend, June 13-14.

You'll be able to see the community art project that was completed at our annual Pride in the Park event (thanks to the Creative Arts Council) along with many other beautiful pieces.

As Seattle and the region prepare for the World, King County Metro launched a website dedicated to encouraging people to ride transit to and from the games and other activities.

Here is a breakdown of Metro's summer and match day services:

Match Day Shuttle
▪️Operates on match days only – June 15, June 19, June 24, June 26, July 1, and July 6.
▪️Special match-day shuttle service between Seattle Center, downtown, and the Seattle Stadium area.
▪️Runs approximately 3 hours before the match and until about 3 hours after.
▪️Frequency: Every 7 minutes at start, increasing to every 3 minutes before the match, 7 minutes during, and load‑and‑go after.


Access Paratransit Match Day Shuttle
▪️Operates match days only – June 15, June 19, June 24, June 26, July 1, and July 6.
▪️Special accessible shuttle connecting the International District/Chinatown Link Station, Mariners Garage, and stadium ADA loading area.
▪️Runs 3 hours before the match until about 2 hours after.
▪️Frequency: Approximately every 20 minutes.


Waterfront Shuttle
▪️Operates Memorial Day (May 25) – Labor Day (September 7), with extra service on match days.
▪️Seasonal shuttle pilot connecting Seattle Center, the Seattle Stadium area, and the Chinatown–International District.
▪️Frequency: Every 10 minutes on match days, every 15 minutes on non-match days.


Bus Service
▪️Enhanced operating period: June 8 – July 17, with emphasis on match days.
▪️Added weekday trips on Routes 40, 70, 101, and 150 to support higher ridership.
▪️Additional standby capacity to add trips dynamically on busy routes and increase reliability.
▪️Continued bus services on I-90 into Seattle to overlap 2 Line provide enhanced capacity and access through summer 2026.


Metro Flex
▪️Enhanced operating period: June 15 – July 6.
▪️Increased on‑demand capacity with 8 additional drivers.
▪️Enhanced service areas include Tukwila, Renton, Rainier Beach/Skyway, and Othello.


Water Taxi
▪️Enhanced operating period: June 15 – July 6, plus seasonal increases.
▪️Added trips on West Seattle and Vashon routes.
▪️West Seattle: +4 weekday roundtrip sailings paired with +4 Water Taxi shuttle trips.
▪️Added weekend service for both routes throughout the summer.
