Did you know? People with osteoporosis can break a bone from sneezing.

During Osteoporosis Month, it’s a good time to learn a little bit about this disease. Meaning “porous bones,” osteoporosis causes bone density and mass to decrease, making bones weaker and brittle.

Mainly affecting older adults, osteoporosis often progresses without many symptoms, until a bone breaks. Some signs to watch for include:

• Bone pain
• Decreased grip strength
• Cramping
• Receding gums
• Brittle fingernails

Lifestyle and dietary changes that support bone health can slow bone density loss and help prevent fractures. We recommend consulting a physician for guidance.

• About 2 million Americans are living with aphasia, with around 180,000 diagnoses a year.
• Aphasia affects a person’s speech and language cognition abilities.
• It often occurs after a stroke or from progressive conditions like Alzheimer’s.
• Aphasia can impact anyone of any age, though older adults are most commonly affected.
