🚒📚SUMMER READING PROGRAM KICKOFF📚🚒
What a great time we had Friday at the Sabine Parish Library's Touch-A-Truck event to kick off the Summer Reading Program!
The event brought together several local agencies and organizations, including Acadian Ambulance, the Sabine Parish Sheriff's Office, and a few others, all sharing information, handing out goodies, and interacting with members of our community. Mr. Lewing's SnoCones was also on site helping everyone beat the heat.
We enjoyed visiting with so many families throughout the day. Kids had the opportunity to tour the fire trucks, climb aboard the apparatus, take pictures, learn about the equipment we use, and even participate in a little friendly water gun action! Events like these provide a wonderful opportunity for us to connect with the community, answer questions, and help children become familiar with the firefighters and emergency responders who serve them.
One of the highlights of the day was seeing the excitement on the kids' faces, but we also had a firefighter who took a few minutes to renew his library card!
Building relationships with our community is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do, and seeing the smiles and excitement throughout the day made the event even more special.
We would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Sabine Parish Library for hosting this fantastic event and for continually inviting us to be a part of their programs and community activities. We appreciate everything you do to bring families together, promote literacy, and encourage learning throughout the summer.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by to visit with us—we look forward to seeing you again soon!

💥DRILL DAY HELD💥
We spent the morning out on the drill field sharpening our skills and expanding our knowledge. Continuous training is essential in the fire service, helping us stay prepared, work safely, and provide the highest level of service to our communities.
Today, FETA brought out the Roof Ventilation Prop, giving firefighters the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience with one of the most important fireground operations. Roof ventilation plays a critical role in controlling heat, smoke, and fire gases inside a structure. When performed correctly, ventilation can improve interior conditions for firefighters, increase visibility, reduce the risk of flashover, and assist with search, rescue, and fire suppression efforts.
Instructors Ryan and Josh provided excellent training on roof safety, ladders, tool selection, roof construction, sounding techniques, and several different ventilation cuts.
Members had the opportunity to practice proper techniques while learning the importance of communication, coordination, and situational awareness when operating on a roof during emergency incidents.
Training like this allows firefighters to build confidence, develop muscle memory, and safely perform critical skills before they are needed on the fireground.
The experience gained through realistic, hands-on training is invaluable and helps ensure we are ready when our community calls.
We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to FETA for providing these outstanding training opportunities, to instructors Ryan and Josh for sharing their knowledge and expertise, and to North Sabine Fire for the use of their training grounds.
We would also like to thank members of South Sabine Fire and North Sabine Fire who joined us this morning. The opportunity to train together strengthens relationships, improves interoperability, and makes all of our departments better prepared to serve the citizens we protect.

After meeting with the person who was alledgely denied water, Mr. Williams, it has been determined that there was no actual contact by him with firefighters of the Central Sabine Fire Department. By his own admission, Mr. Williams does not believe that the firefighter he spoke of ever saw him, as he was in the field behind the fire station. This matter is considered closed and, as always, every member of this department stands ready to assist all people of our community in whatever way the situation demands. On behalf of the men and women of the CSFD we thank you for your continued support.

🇺🇸Today we observe Memorial Day and remember what this day truly stands for.
It’s more than the lake trips, cookouts and fireworks. It’s about honoring the brave men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice so we can enjoy the freedom and moments we often take for granted.
Today, we pause to remember those heroes who gave everything for our country. Their courage, service, and sacrifice will never be forgotten🇺🇸

It has come to our attention that a claim was recently made alleging that Central Sabine firefighters turned away an individual in need of assistance. If true, this type of conduct would be inconsistent with our mission, values, and commitment to serving our community, and it will be addressed immediately.
At this time, we are actively investigating the matter; however, we have not yet been able to obtain any specific details from the individual(s) involved. We are committed to conducting a thorough investigation and will continue our efforts until we reach a satisfactory conclusion.

🎓SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED🎓
Congratulations to two of our outstanding Junior Firefighters on completing the high school chapter of their lives!
On Friday May 8th, District Fire Chief Scott Gowen proudly presented both young men with the 2026 CSFD Fire Recruit $25,000.00 Scholarship during the Many High School graduation ceremony.
JaQualen Carhee and Joseph Gentes have been a part of our department for quite some time and have continuously shown exceptional commitment, dedication, and passion for serving both our department and the community. Their hard work, leadership, and willingness to learn and serve have truly set them apart.
This scholarship will help ease the financial burden of their 18-week stay while attending the 2027 FETA Fire Academy as they pursue careers in the fire service.
We are incredibly proud of JaQualen and Joseph and look forward to watching them grow into the next generation firefighters, congratulations guys!

☢️HAZMAT GRANT RECEIVED☢️

Earlier this year, Central Sabine Fire District applied for grant funding to assist with purchasing new, up-to-date HazMat equipment for our department. We are incredibly blessed and thankful to have received a $10,000.00 grant from DT Midstream.
With these funds, our department was able to purchase new Level A suits, boots and gloves, patch/plug/putty kits, an overpack drum, spill kits, drum kits, and many other essential HazMat tools and equipment. Having these items readily available when a hazardous emergency arises brings our department one step closer to providing a safer tomorrow for both our firefighters and the community we proudly serve.
We would like to sincerely thank DT Midstream for their support and investment in emergency services. This equipment was greatly needed and is truly appreciated.

🍪A SWEET THANK YOU🍪

Yesterday, we celebrated National Firefighters Appreciation Day, and the Central Sabine Fire District would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Senator Alan Seabaugh’s office and Mrs. Lauren Thompson with Sweet Tooth for the “sweet” thank-you cookies for all the Sabine Parish firefighters.
Your thoughtful gesture truly meant the world to us, and we are incredibly grateful for the support and appreciation shown to our department.

📚🎉BLOCK PARTY WITH THE LIBRARY🎉📚

Saturday morning we had the pleasure of attending the Sabine Parish Library Block Party—and what a time we had!
We got to meet so many kiddos and parents who stopped by our tent throughout the day.
From our photo prop station, marking bingo cards, to our fun game setup- the highlight was definitely watching the kids “put out the fire” using our backpack fire extinguisher (water gun).
There were lots of smiles, laughs, and excitement all around, we also handed out goodie bags, hats, and a few fun prizes along the way. Sparky came by and stole the show with all the kids making rounds visiting with everyone.
A big THANK YOU to the Sabine Parish Library for inviting us to be part of such a wonderful event. Our Many library is truly a special place and these ladies go above and beyond for our community
