Elect Jessica Wilkins for city commissioner

Elect Jessica Wilkins for city commissioner Your Manton City Commissioner, dedicated to helping the people in this wonderful city!

02/17/2026

I encourage everyone to attend our City Commission meetings and get informed firsthand about what is happening in our community. There is no substitute for showing up, asking questions, and hearing the full discussion.

It's easy for anonymous social media accounts to create confusion, spread misinformation, or stir up drama without knowing the full facts. That kind of noise distracts from the real work being done to improve our city.

This Commission is committed to transparency and positive change. We are working hard to address longstanding issues and move our community forward. The water project, for example, has been in the works for quite some time. These projects do not happen overnight, and there are many steps involved that the public may not always see.

If you have questions, please ask.
Reach out. Attend meetings. Review the information we provide. We welcome honest conversations and informed engagement.

Let's focus on facts, progress, and what's best for our community.

As a City Commissioner, I take my role and my responsibility to our residents very seriously.

There is an ongoing investigation that I, along with other commissioners, have been actively working on every single day—while also balancing my full-time job. This work is not taken lightly, and it is being done with care, diligence, and a commitment to doing what is right.

I want residents to know this: I will always stand up for you. I will not tolerate distrust, disrespect, or dishonesty within our city government. Transparency, integrity, and accountability are not optional. THEY ARE REQUIRED!!!!!!

I remain committed to serving our community with honesty and determination, and I will continue to do the work necessary to protect the trust you have placed in us.

Good afternoon,

I would like to take a moment to address a matter of importance. As a commissioner, it is one of my duties to maintain transparency with our residents.

Recently, there were two articles published in our local paper, one in July and a follow-up this past weekend. I would like to emphasize that, as a commission, our primary focus is on supporting positive forward growth for our city and not encouraging dysfunction. The July article highlighted certain issues between our mayor and clerk of which are over a year old, but there were broader implications at play.

As a community, it is essential that we are aware when city officials are not fulfilling their obligations and are instead engaging in covert activities and promoting hidden agendas.

Regarding the July article, it contained numerous details suggesting an ongoing issue, which is inaccurate. We prefer not to continue to draw unnecessary public attention to the city based on a reporter's perception of a story. Manton is not a city where one should attempt to find a story by grasping at straws. If you are seeking a story, consider inquiring about updates on the splash pad/new playground, gas station, potential housing initiatives, or water infrastructure that our community is actively working towards some of which include grants.

It’s unnecessary to dwell on non-existent issue. Did the recent article mention the potential loss of $100,000? Yes, the city clerk provided this estimate when a fellow commissioner inquired about the total amount spent or lost due to the ransom attack, overtime for city staff, influx of a high number FOIA requests, disruptions of city beyond normal services, attorney fees, extra audits, etc… Does the total equal this amount? Not precisely. But again, if anyone has any questions please go in and talk to the city staff. City Staff are happy to share knowledge and experience about our city and how it runs. Please consider City Staff YOUR resource, the answer should always be the same regardless of the individual in these positions.

Regarding the article discussing the mayor’s absence from the August meeting, I can confirm that he was not present. Did the commission receive an email notification regarding his absence? No, we did not. While I understand that unforeseen circumstances can arise, as Mayor, it is essential to notify the board of such absences as it would be expected from myself or the 5 other commissioners. Furthermore, my comment in the paper regarding the mayor’s failure to provide a report in months is accurate. We hold all our department heads to the same standard, requiring them to submit written reports monthly as voted on by the City Commission. However, we have not received a report from the mayor. As a city official, I believe it is our responsibility to provide the public with explanations for such omissions.

As a commissioner and resident, I prioritize our town's well-being and the people who genuinely seek positive change. I appreciate the community's enthusiasm for supporting one another and promoting the best interests of our city. If you have questions, please attend a meeting or contact a city commissioner. We are committed to serving the people of this remarkable city, which I am proud to call my home.

Sincerely,

Commissioner Wilkins.

On this day, we reflect on the heroic sacrifices of those who lost their lives on September 11th, 2001. As a proud EMT first responder, wife of a fire chief, mother of a firefighter, and a daughter of a Army veteran. I am reminded of the unwavering courage and selflessness that defines our nation.
Though America has evolved over the past 23 years, one thing remains constant: our unshakeable reverence for our fallen heroes and our unwavering commitment to never forget their sacrifice.
