Kaydence may be driving a white Ford F150 Plate . Kaydence was last seen in Sanpete County but may be in surrounding counties. JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Legal Secretary
HOURS: part time/29.5 hours per week. Will be full time in near future.
DEPARTMENT: Sanpete County Attorney’s Office
PAY RANGE: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour, depending on experience

JOB SUMMARY

A highly skilled secretarial position with knowledge of the criminal justice system and court
policies and procedures. Perform data processing, data entry, electronic file creation and maintenance, case preparation, word processing, receptionist work, and other assigned secretarial duties for the Sanpete County Attorney and Deputy County Attorney.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

• Prepare cases and all applicable documentation for E-Filing with Sixth District Court.
• Draft, obtain, and prepare informations, motions, summonses, subpoenas,
warrants, orders and orders to show cause, etc.
• Create, organize, and maintain all County Attorney Office files and indexes.
• Perform all other legal secretary functions for the County Attorney’s Office such as
copying, and reception duties.
• Answer telephones, receive visitors, and take and deliver messages for the attorneys.
• Maintain composure when confronted with hostile, emotional, or angry people and tactfully answer routine questions from the public and other county employees.
• Interact with and accurately gather information from police officers, defendants, victims,
court personnel, and outside attorneys to ensure proper preparation of cases.
• Maintain proper decorum and work ethic of the County Attorney’s Office.
• Must be dependable.
• Must be self-motivated.
• Must be able to pass Drug and Alcohol Testing. (Random testing).
• Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent; two years of post-high school academic
study in business administration, criminal justice, secretarial, or other related field.

Experience: At least two years of experience at a prosecuting agency as a legal assistant, legal
secretary, or paralegal, or comparable office experience.

Certifications: Valid Utah Driver’s License, Notary Public helpful, but not required, Terminal Agency Coordinator (TAC) for access to the Department of Public Safety, Bureau of Criminal Identification, Utah Criminal Justice Information System (UCJIS) helpful, but not required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Knowledge of prosecution and court procedures in order to prepare, with minimal
supervision, cases filed from the Sanpete County Attorney’s office, including informations, motions, summonses, subpoenas, warrants, and orders to show cause, etc.
• Computer programs for the County Attorney’s Office including the prosecution document preparation system and all other systems implemented by the attorney’s office.
• Maintain strict confidentiality and interact diplomatically with department personnel, other county department personnel, the public, defendants, and outside attorneys.
• Communicate effectively verbally and in writing, exercise initiative and sound judgment to react resourcefully and responsibly under pressure.
• Ability to create, organize, and maintain all County Attorney office files and indexes.
• Ability to operate various types of typical office equipment and computer software necessary to perform all other legal secretary functions for the County Attorney’s office, such as scanning, faxing, copying, and reception duties.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Typically sit at a desk or table. Regularly walk, stand, or stoop. Occasionally lift, carry, push,
pull, or otherwise move objects weighing up to 25 - 30 pounds. Occasionally drive a motor vehicle. Work for sustained periods of time maintaining attention to detail.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Class Title: Children's Justice Center (CJC) Director Department: Sanpete County Attorney
The director's primary task is to directly oversee and manage the operations of the CJC including its staff and volunteers serving at the Center. The director will be under the supervision of the Sanpete County Attorney.
PURPOSE Several local law enforcement agencies, Sanpete County, Snow College, and the State of Utah collaborated to develop a CJC to improve response to child abuse victims. Provides program support to local government entities; law enforcement agencies; Division of Child and Family Services; victim families and community entities.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
l . Directs overall operations of the CJC by planning short and long-term goals.
2. Develops and implements policies, protocols, and services.
3. Develops and monitors program budget in cooperation with Sanpete County. Director will provide budget projections, allocations, and expenditures as required.
4. Ensures that the CJC property is well maintained to provide a comfortable place for child victims and families.
5. Writes grants, submits required quarterly and annual reports, and negotiates contracts as required.
6. Maintains statistical information for quarterly and annual reports to the State and grantor agencies.
7. Controls and maintains all documents necessary to fulfill legal and regulatory requirements.
8. Assists in the coordination of crises intervention in the CJC and coordinates referrals to other community resources to ensure continuity of services. As requested, reviews cases including clinical reviews and/or supplemental case staffing with law enforcement, the Division of Child and Family Services and other essential agencies to facilitate the implementation of delivery of services to victims and families.
9. Represents the local CJC at the Utah State Children's Justice Program Advisory Board and the State Directors meetings held in other locations as well as working closely and attending meetings of the local advisory board.
10. Regularly attends meetings of the local multidisciplinary team where cases are monitored and reviewed. Makes suggestions and gives guidance to the team to facilitate collaboration in the best interest of the victims.
1 1. Attend meetings of the Friends of the CJC board to represent the interests and needs of the CJC program and to provide guidance on how the board can assist.
12. Advises the County Attorney and the advisory board on CJC needs and priorities. 13. Provides an ongoing forum for interagency problem solving and planning in the area of child abuse prevention.
14. Directs and supervises personnel and volunteers. The director will provide hiring recommendations, determine workload, and outline responsibilities of employees and volunteers. The director, after consulting with the Sanpete County Attorney, will be included in initiating corrective or disciplinary actions, which may include termination, if necessary and as outlined by the Sanpete County Employee policies.
15. Attends appropriate meetings, conferences, workshops and state and national training sessions.
16. Coordinates community development and awareness.
17. Undertakes reasonable tasks to further enhance community involvement and overall effectiveness of the center.
18. Other duties as assigned.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND REQUIREMENTS
Preferred education background in business administration, public administration, human and social services, child development, criminal justice or related field, plus two years applicable experience. Leadership and managerial experience required.
l. Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language and possess strong writing, grammar and punctuation skills, as well as previous grant writing experience.
2. Must have strong interpersonal skills.
3. Must be able to organize and supervise the day-to-day CJC activities.
4. Must have the ability to speak and make presentations before a group of people; communicate information and ideas clearly, concisely, and grammatically correct in writing.
5. Must have the ability to write and administer grants.
6. Prefer experience interfacing with other agencies, professions, groups, and organizations akin to the CJC's mission.
7. Must have ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented verbally or in writing.
8. Must be experienced using word processing programs, spreadsheets and have a solid foundation with computer skills.
9. Prefer experience in effective delegation, supervision, and appraising of associate personnel and volunteers.
10. In addition to a regular scheduled workweek, must be flexible and willing to respond to afterhour's law enforcement requests to use the CJC.
I l . Must consent to and pass a criminal background and child abuse registry background check.
