Manteca Unified is hosting a Paraprofessional Hiring Event for individuals who have a passion for supporting teachers and students!

Paraprofessionals play an essential role in schools, providing one-on-one support in the classroom working alongside the teacher. Paraprofessionals work as classroom aids, assisting with small group instruction and helping create engaging learning environments for all students.

✨ MUSD honors up to 10 years of experience in the same or similar position. Individuals offered a 6-hour paraprofessional position will receive full benefits, including Medical, Dental, and Vision.

Register by October 11 to be invited to attend! Once you register, you’ll receive details about the event, time, and location.

Interested applicants must be prepared to provide the following:
1️⃣ A resume
2️⃣ Signed letter of recommendation
3️⃣ High School Diploma or equivalent
4️⃣ ONE of the following:
🔹 Transcripts showing completion of 48 semester units
🔹 AA degree (or higher) from a regionally accredited college

✂️🎉 Last Friday marked an exciting milestone at Joshua Cowell Elementary as the school officially cut the ribbon on its very own Multipurpose Room!

Families, students, and staff stepped inside for a first look at the new facility, which will serve as a space for learning, celebrations, performances, assemblies, athletic events, and so much more! 🏀🎭📚

Joining the celebration were Board President Stephen Schluer, Trustee Cathy Pope-Gotschall, and Assistant Superintendent Melanie Greene.

Helping officially cut the ribbon were Joshua Cowell Principal Stacy Valencia, Vice Principals Angie Saldana and Dennis Filippini, and teacher Jerri Brown, who has been at the school since it opened in 1994. Brown even helped select the school’s blue and green colors that continue to represent the Cougars today! 💙💚

The Multipurpose Room also holds a special piece of Joshua Cowell history! Last fall, students and staff signed a beam that has now become part of the building, and their names will remain part of Joshua Cowell for generations of students to come. So be sure to look up at the ceiling the next time you’re inside!

The Panthers at Nile Garden gave their families the lay of the land during Back-to-School Night! 🐾

Back-to-School Night gave families an opportunity to follow in their cubs’ pawprints, exploring their classrooms, meeting their teachers, learning more about grade-level expectations, and getting a closer look at student masterpieces proudly displayed throughout the school. ✨

Joining families for the evening was Board Trustee Marie Freitas, a former Nile Garden Panther and MUSD teacher! Trustee Freitas spent time visiting classrooms, connecting with teachers, and talking with parents about their students and their students' school experiences. Trustee Freitas encouraged them to continue staying involved, emphasizing the importance of family engagement and parent partners.

From Panthers past to Panthers present, it was a great evening of bringing families, educators, and District leadership together around what matters most: the students. 🐾💚

Neil Hafley opened its classroom doors for Back-to-School Night! 🦅📚

Families got a firsthand look at where their Hawks will be learning and growing this year! The evening started with teacher introductions, followed by the chance for families to step into their students’ classrooms, connect with teachers, and learn how they can partner together to support student success throughout the school year.

Board President Stephen Schluer and Trustee Kathy Howe also joined the evening, visiting classrooms and connecting one-on-one with students, families, and staff! 🌟

“Back-to-School Nights are one of the best parts of the school year,” shared Schluer. “Seeing the excitement of students and parents as they begin the new year, connecting with teachers, and watching students proudly show their families around their classrooms is always special. It’s wonderful to see parents getting involved and becoming partners in their child’s learning. That involvement is key to student success.”

For Trustee Howe, the evening also brought a special full-circle moment as she stopped by the classroom where she taught for more than 20 years! She also visited her grandchildren’s new classrooms and had the opportunity to reconnect with Neil Hafley staff.

It was a great evening of connection and excitement as families and staff came together for the school year ahead! ✨

Lincoln Elementary Pirates struck GOLD yesterday! 🏴‍☠️ 🪙

Students gathered in the multipurpose room for the big reveal of their brand-new book vending machine, a fun new way Lincoln is building excitement around reading and helping students discover their next great book! 📚

Cheers filled the room as students helped unwrap the machine, revealing bright neon lights and shelves filled with books ready to be selected. The excitement grew as students got to drop a special gold coin into the machine and watch their chosen book come down! 📖✨

As a former librarian with a lifelong love of reading, Board Trustee Cathy Pope-Gotschall, couldn’t help but join the celebration, cheering alongside students as the first coins dropped into the machine.

At Lincoln, reading is becoming part of the treasure hunt, giving Pirates another exciting way to explore new stories, grow their love of reading, and find a book they can’t wait to open! 🏴‍☠️📚

Back-to-School Nights offer a unique opportunity for families to meet teachers, see their child’s classroom, and learn about grade-level expectations that guide students toward meeting standards. 📚✨

At Veritas Elementary, every classroom on campus was open for Back-to-School Night! Parents, students, teachers, and administrators engaged in meaningful conversations that set the tone for the academic year ahead. From discussing class projects to experiencing campus culture, the Veritas community welcomed families as active partners in education during this interactive event. ❤️📖

The Spartans started the 2026–27 school year strong! 💛🖤

During the first two days of school, Lathrop High School hosted “Spartan U: Becoming Spartan Strong!” Students participated in four grade-level workshops designed to build connections, set clear expectations, strengthen school culture, and set the tone for the year ahead.

Students attended class meetings to learn about academic, behavioral, and social-emotional expectations, brought the energy during class rallies, and enjoyed a field day filled with games and activities focused on building relationships and teamwork.

With a strong start behind them, we’re excited to see all the great things the Spartans accomplish this school year! 🌟

Before the school year started, our Transportation team came together for Back-to-School Training to prepare for the 2026–2027 school year! 🚌

As part of the training, guest presenter Alexis Wilbur from the San Joaquin County Family Justice Center spoke about human trafficking awareness and how school transportation staff can help recognize potential red flags and support student safety.

Drivers also reviewed transportation procedures, prepared their routes, and ensured their buses are ready to welcome students on the first day of school!

Thank you to our Transportation team for everything you do to help students start and end each school day with care and confidence! 🌟

ATTENTION parents whose children receive transportation services: please expect transportation delays during the first few weeks of school. This is completely normal as students, drivers, and schools adjust to new routes and routines!

🍎🥗 Before the first day of school, Manteca Unified's Nutrition Education team came together for their annual In-Service Training to prepare for another successful school year!

Staff participated in presentations covering food allergies, National School Lunch Program compliance, customer (student!) service, and other important topics to help ensure students receive healthy, nutritious meals every day.

Assistant Superintendent Victoria Brunn also shared how nourishing students play a vital role in supporting student success, reminding attendees that every meal helps fuel learning in the classroom.

During the presentation, the team also celebrated some of their incredible impact and milestones:
🍽️ 5.3 million meals served annually to 32 school sites (plus 13 vended programs!)
🧑‍👩‍🍳 40% of meals prepared from scratch
📅 256 days of service each year
‍🍳 21 cooking lessons through after-school programs
