The annual hop harvest and frenzy known as Fresh Hop season has begun!
We’re excited to get our hands on this harvest year’s fresh Cascade, Chinook, and Centennial hops from Chelan Valley Hops here in Washington!
Over the next two weeks and three separate fresh hop deliveries, we’ll get these hops turned into our annual fresh hop saison, Étoile Verte, as well as barreling up fresh hop cones for next January’s Citranox release.
Étoile Verte (meaning ‘Green Star’) is our yearly fresh hop ale offering, featuring a different hop variety balancing delicately on our light but flavorful barley-and-wheat base. This year we’re going “retro” and featuring Cascade and Centennial hops but will explore aspects of hop terroir in the Chelan Valley hops. The growing environment in the Lake Chelan valley is unique (different soil, with different water, in a different microclimate than those of the Yakima Valley) and we’re excited to see how these well-known hop varieties may express unique flavors and aromas that set them apart from other Cascades, Centennials, and Chinooks.
Citranox is our annual release of barrel-aged fresh hop, blended from hop varieties placed fresh and immediately doused with our light barrel base ale, then aged in barrel sets for 3 to 4 months for a unique and fascinating set of aromas and flavors extracted from those fresh hops.
Stay tuned for fresh hop and other fall harvest updates 🍻
