💙 30 YEARS OF COPS N’ KIDS! 💙

For 30 years, FOP Lodge #32 has been making a difference in the lives of local children through their annual Cops N’ Kids program. Their continued generosity, along with the incredible partnership with Richland County Children Services has helped provide area children with the clothing, shoes, and other back-to-school necessities they need to start the school year with confidence. 👟👕👚

Walmart Mansfield - Possum Run Rd for their time, service, and commitment to giving back to our community. Your willingness to help make this event a success does not go unnoticed!

For three decades, Cops N’ Kids has shown what can happen when law enforcement, community organizations, local businesses, and caring individuals come together for our children.

📣 SOCK & SHOE DRIVE REMINDER! 🧦👟

Just a reminder that our officers will be at Walmart tomorrow, August 20th, from Noon–4:00 PM collecting donations for the Back to School Sock & Shoe Drive!

🗓️ Final Drop-Off: Friday, August 21st by 4:00 PM

If you haven't had a chance to donate yet, there is still time to help local children start the school year with a new pair of socks and shoes! ❤️

The Mansfield Division of Police wants to make the community aware of “swatting” incidents and the serious dangers they create.
Swatting occurs when someone intentionally makes a false report of a serious crime, such as a shooting, hostage situation, or armed individual, to cause a significant law enforcement response to an unsuspecting person's home or business.

These incidents are not harmless pranks. When our officers are dispatched to a report involving an immediate threat to someone's life, they must initially respond as though the emergency is real. False reports place innocent residents, officers, and the community at unnecessary risk and divert emergency resources from legitimate calls for service.

If officers unexpectedly respond to your home, remain calm, keep your hands visible, and follow officers' instructions. Remember, the responding officers may have been provided false information describing a potentially violent situation and will not immediately know that the report is false.

We also encourage residents to limit the amount of personal information they make publicly available online, particularly information that identifies their home address, family members, telephone numbers, or residence.

The Division’s Major Crimes Section is currently investigating these incidents. Anyone found to have intentionally made a false emergency report will face serious criminal charges.

The Mansfield Division of Police will continue to take threats seriously while working to protect our citizens, officers, and community.

IN MEMORIAM OF PATROLMAN JOHN ENGLEHART JR.

It is with profound respect and solemn remembrance that the Mansfield Division of Police honors the memory of Patrolman John Englehart Jr., our first officer to fall in the line of duty.

On August 7, 1893, while steadfastly guarding the Union Depot to protect our community, Patrolman Englehart was tragically struck by a freight train and lost his life. At just 33 years old, with four years of service behind him and a fiancée waiting at home, he gave all in the performance of his duty.

Known for his polite demeanor, excellent character, and unwavering dedication, Patrolman Englehart embodied the very best of what it means to serve. As noted in the local paper at the time: “By the death of John Englehart, our City loses a faithful Officer and a most valuable citizen.”

Today, we honor his bravery, his sacrifice, and the lasting legacy he left for our department and community. We will always remember his service and hold him in our hearts.

🧦👟 BACK TO SCHOOL SOCK & SHOE DRIVE! 👟🧦

The Mansfield Division of Police is proud to partner with The New Store (The New Store) to collect new socks and shoes for local kids in need!

📅 COLLECTION DATES: AUGUST 7th thru 21st, 2026

Officers will be on-site:
🗓️ August 11 & August 20
🕛 12:00–4:00 PM

📍 LOCATION:
WALMART - 2485 Possum Run Road, Mansfield

📦 DONATION BINS ARE LOCATED NEAR THE VISION CENTER ENTRANCE.

We're coming together to ensure every child starts the school year with confidence, comfort, and the essentials they deserve!

ℹ️ Please Note: Donations will not be distributed on the day of collection. Once received, The New Store will distribute the items at a later date to ensure they go directly to the children who need them most.

YOU CAN HELP MAKE A DIFFERENCE...ONE PAIR OF SHOES AND SOCKS AT A TIME!
