Allies In Youth Development

Allies In Youth Development Allies serves 27,000+ orphans & vulnerable children a month in 90+ countries through mentoring program & aid

In 2011, a University of Texas at Arlington study abroad trip to Eastern Europe birthed a deep desire in team members to help children in area orphanages. After meeting some members of the largest Eastern European family with over 50 adopted children, Allies co-founders Chris Burgin and Dr. Tatiana Baeva began conversations with others to seek ways to create change for these children. How could or

phans be saved from hopelessness and high rates of addiction, suicide, homelessness, and human trafficking? Allies trains and invests in area leaders who organize teams of in-country university students to work with local orphanages. As mentors, these students build relational bridges through regular orphanage visits where they model the character of Christ and teach life skills to the orphans. These necessary human connections are the foundation to set orphans on a life-changing path for long-term success and leadership. Although the mentorship program is the backbone of Allies, we do so much more. We regularly ship packages to orphanages overseas to provide much needed items that we often take for granted here in the United States, things as simple as hygiene products. Allies also sends children to summer camps annually and has a tutoring program to connect orphans with online tutors to assist them in passing the college entrance exam. We also provide help to single mothers and others in need, including those affected by the war in Ukraine. Our programs are currently in 21 countries and that number is growing as we continue to reach new areas every year.

In this community in Santo Domingo, many families are living in extreme hardship, without the stability and support every child deserves.

That is why AMP matters.

Yes, practical care matters; food, hygiene, and clean water all matter. But lasting change also takes consistent presence, trusted relationships, and mentors who keep showing up.

What makes this program especially powerful is that local young adults from this very community are now serving as mentors to the children around them. Their leadership is a picture of transformation from within.

Even in a place marked by hardship, we witnessed joy, dignity, connection, and hope.

Please pray for the children, the mentors, and this community as these seeds continue to grow.

A child being welcomed warmly.
A volunteer making space for prayer, conversation, and joy.
A program that creates rhythm, trust, and a place to feel safe.

When Allies visits a program like this, we bring encouragement, support, and Bags of Hope to help meet immediate needs. But what continues long after the visit is the steady presence of mentors who keep showing up.

That kind of care helps children build confidence, connection, and a stronger sense of what their future can hold.

Please keep the children, volunteers, and leaders in Guatemala in your prayers.

While conflict and uncertainty fill the headlines in the Middle East, hope is still at work.

Through the Allies Mentoring Program, 977 orphaned and vulnerable children are served across 10 countries in the Middle East and the surrounding regions by faithful in-country volunteers who show up every month with love, consistency, and support.

We are so thankful for Creekwood Church. 🤍

This week, they came together to pack boxes that will bring hope and reminders of God’s love to orphans around the world.

We’re also excited that Creekwood is starting a new LifeGroup dedicated to serving at Allies, choosing to live out their faith and make a lasting impact in the lives of vulnerable children.

Thank you, Creekwood, for being the hands and feet of Jesus.

This wasn’t a fundraising breakfast.

It was the first step in building long-term partnerships.

In South Carolina, we gathered faith leaders, business leaders, and community partners for a strategic conversation about vulnerable children around the world.

Major impact doesn’t begin with an ask.

It begins with alignment.
With shared vision.
With trust built over time.

Before generosity comes clarity.
Before support comes understanding.

That’s what this gathering was about.

Building the kind of partnerships that sustain impact for years to come.

This month in the Philippines, our children in the Allies Mentoring Program learned about national heroes - but the most powerful lesson wasn’t found in history books. It was found in their actions.

Through laughter, games, and learning, they discovered that being a hero starts with simple choices: helping a friend, showing kindness, and believing they can make a difference.

When a child begins to see themselves as capable, valued, and brave, everything changes.

Thank you for being part of this story. 💛

Greetings from the Philippines! 🇵🇭

Every month, something powerful is happening here.

86 mentors showing up faithfully.
11 regions reached with hope.
774 children known by name, loved deeply, and reminded they matter.

This is more than a program, it’s relationship. It’s presence. It’s Jesus working through ordinary people to change the trajectory of a child’s life.

This is just the beginning. 🤍

Many orphaned and vulnerable children are walking through waters marked by loss, uncertainty, and trauma. But Jesus meets them there. In their fear. In their grief. In their quiet moments of needing comfort.

Through relationship, presence, and love, we remind them they are not forgotten. That Jesus sees them. That He is with them.

From Texas to Peru!

Here are some handcrafted blessings from many different people right here in Texas. ❤️

The dresses these girls are wearing were lovingly sewn by one of our sweet donors. The dolls that arrived were made possible through members of First Baptist Grapevine. In addition, “Prayer Buddy" dolls were carefully handcrafted by another faithful partner who pours love and prayer into each one.

Different hands. Different talents. One purpose: to bless orphans and disadvantaged children with something made just for them.

To every person who uses their gifts - sewing, stitching, creating, praying - thank you. Your hands are helping children feel valued, celebrated, and deeply loved.

Our Story

Each May there will be 16,000+ orphans in Russia that will “graduate”. Most of them will be given around $30 and turned loose to make their way alone in the world. The majority will fall prey to drugs, alcohol, and prostitution. Some will even be taken and forced into slavery. Who will lend a hand in this unknown and unfriendly world? Who will encourage them to keep trying positive solutions? Allies in Youth Development (AiYD) is stepping up to help. In our Voronezh, Russia orphanage, we have established "Planeta Druzey" (Planet of Friends) a program designed to give orphans the tools and support network they desperately need to become healthy established individuals. Through the mentorship of locally trained university students serving as big brothers and sisters to the orphans, this group of previously abandoned youth will be given positive role models in their lives. In addition to the incredible impact of mentorship, our program strives to attain university placement and apprentice programs for those interested in further education and advanced job opportunities. In 2014, we also expanded to a new orphanage in Moldova and a community in South Ossetia. Here, we are empowering university students to encourage orphans. South Ossetia is war-torn and in desperate need. Many of the children have lost either one or both parents in a recent war. We believe that the life skills taught in our mentorship program will last a lifetime for the orphans who are reached and the university students who are trained to assist.
