The city of Mansfield Shade Tree Commission hosted our bi-annual public educational meeting at North Lake Park to celebrate our designation as a Tree City USA for 30 years and to congratulate our partner the Richland County Park District for the 30th annivesary of the opening of the B & O Bike Trail.

To commemorate this milestone, a "Autumn Blaze" Red Maple generously donated by Alta Florist & Greenhouse was planted.

Our thanks to our special guest speakers, Jordan Tackett, Executive Director of the Richland County Park District and Josh Steffen, Executive Director of Kingwood Center Gardens, Mayor Jodie Perry for taking time out of her busy schedule to join us in this celebration. And most of all, our thanks to the Shade Tree Commission members Councilman Aureilo Diaz, Director Louis Andres, Josh Maurer, Michael Henry and Juli Parsons who give of their time and energy each year.

Please join us tomorrow evening, October 2nd at 6:30 p.m. at North Lake Park Pavilion for this special informational meeting with local experts.

We will also be planting a tree to commemorate and celebrate the city of Mansfield as a Tree City USA for 30 years, and the opening of the B & O Bike Trail.

You'll also have a chance to learn about the walking arboretum along the bike trail.

We are pleased to announce the Take Pride Earth Stewardship Contest, PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARD voting has begun via Facebook. Directions for voting are as follows:
All projects submitted with photos for have been posted to the Earth Stewardship Celebration page. To cast your vote:
1. Each of the Projects have been put in a Photo Album with the Name of the Project and Organization and their project.
2. To cast your vote “LIKE” the picture album of the project you want as the winner of the People’s Choice Award.
3. Share with your friends, family, and groups so they may cast their vote. Be sure to see all the wonderful projects that have been completed in the Mansfield/Richland County community.

The City of Mansfield Shade Tree Commission held its annual educational presentation to students at Malabar Intermediate School today.

Our thanks to our Special guest speakers , Mayor Jodie Perry, Councilman Aureilo Diaz, Public Works Director Louis Andres and Shade Tree Commission member Juli Parsons for taking time out their busy day to talk with the students about the importance of trees in the City of Mansfield.

Each student left with a tree seedling and directions on how to plant the tree. The tree seedlings were provided thanks to our ongoing partnership and generousity with the Richland Soil and Water Conservation District

The staff and students were great hosts and so welcoming and appreciative and are simply the best!

The Commission looks forward to working with our schools again next year!

We are all prepped and ready for the opportunity to provide a presentation to Malabar Intermediate School 4th Graders tomorrow, May 16th. Students will learn the importance of trees, receive instructions on how to plant trees and each will go home with a tree seedling.

Our thanks to the Richland Soil and Water Conservation District in donating the tree seedlings as we continue our educaiton programs.

Thank you Richland Source for your support as the Shade Tree Commission continues our education program with our schools.

For 29 years, the Commission has conducted presentations, tree plantings and distribution of tree seedlings.
