SD 22 knows how to go All Out for Labor Day Weekend!

Yesterday, I started the day in McLennan County at the 50th annual WestFest Parade and stopped by The Village Bakery for kolaches before heading to Hamilton County to join our booth at the Hamilton County Dove Festival.

I enjoyed meeting supporters and friends along the way. One of our team members also joined Hamilton County TX Republican Party Chair Andy Ivey for the Dove Run 5K and Dove Fest Parade, who smoked the competition!

America’s jobs market is making big gains. Employers added 162,000 jobs in August—more than triple expectations—and has grown over the past 6 months.

This is consistent with Texas Workforce Commission's latest report, for July, which shows Texas added 165,600 jobs over the year, outpacing national growth.

Texas’ private sector added 170,400 jobs over the year (+1.4%). Professional and business services led with over 67,000 new jobs, while private education and health added 35,000.

There’s no doubt: the Texas model is creating opportunity.

🚧 I-35 TRAFFIC ALERT 🚧

Drivers traveling through Waco this weekend should plan ahead. Beginning Saturday, August 29, at 7 p.m., TxDOT will close all I-35 mainlanes between New Road and 17th Street to remove the westbound South Valley Mills Drive bridge.

The closure is expected to remain in place until Sunday, August 30, at 10 a.m. New Road and 12th Street will remain open for East/West crossings and turnaround movements.

As you travel, please allow for extra time, follow posted detours, and slow down for construction workers.

In less than 12 hours, Fort Worth Fire Department crews responded to two major fires—rescuing injured firefighters from a burning home and battling a three-alarm apartment fire.

Thank you to the brave firefighters from ArlingtonTx Fire and Eastland Fire Department who are helping battle the Ross Fire in Palo Pinto and Jack counties. I’m grateful for their service and praying for their safety and for every family in the fire’s path.
