After years of research, community engagement, and regional collaboration, the Central Texas Comprehensive Climate Action Plan (CCAP) has been released. This plan serves as a clear roadmap for tackling environmental challenges while supporting long-term economic vitality, public health, infrastructure resilience, and quality of life.

Developed with input from government, healthcare, education, business, nonprofit, and community organizations, the CCAP reflects the diverse needs and perspectives of Central Texas. Stakeholder engagement and data-driven analysis to identify strategies to strengthen communities while preparing for future environmental and economic challenges.

BMHC served on the CCAP Advisory Group. As an advocate for health equity, we contributed a community health perspective on factors influencing well-being beyond traditional healthcare settings.

The release of the CCAP marks the completion of a significant regional planning effort and the start of collaboration focused on implementation. We are grateful to have participated and looks forward to seeing the positive impact this work can have on communities across Central Texas.

The Black Leaders Collective (BLC) is hosting their Healing, Rest, and Leadership Retreat—a wellness-centered experience designed specifically for Black leaders, caregivers, advocates, and community trailblazers who spend much of their time pouring into others. As a longstanding member of the BLC Health Advocacy Group, BMHC recognizes the importance of creating spaces for restoration, reflection, and healing.

Taking place from July 31 to August 2, 2026, this retreat offers participants an opportunity to step away from the demands of daily leadership and reconnect with practices that support long-term well-being. The experience will feature dynamic workshops, guided meditation and breathwork, sound baths, red light therapy, community reflection spaces, wellness experiences, and conversations with thought leaders, spiritual leaders, and health professionals.

Black Men's Health Clinic® staff came together for our Quarterly Staff Meeting to reflect on our progress, celebrate our accomplishments, honor representatives from our team and BMHC Care Network™ organizations such as Central Health, and learn how we may better align our goals for the months ahead to best serve the community.

Looking ahead, we are energized by new opportunities to make a difference and grateful for the trust of our clients, partners, and community supporters. We are strengthening partnerships, expanding access to coordinated medical, mental, and social services, while deepening our commitment to ensuring that no one is left behind because of their income, circumstances, or life challenges.

Together, we will continue to create pathways to more collaborative communities and healthier outcomes for all those we serve.

A portion of this clip touches on a conversation that has stayed with me since 2003.

I was attending University of Texas at Arlington on terminal leave after leaving active duty with the 556th Personnel Services Battalion, 25th Infantry Division, just before Stop-Loss began affecting many service members.

The country was still responding to 9/11. Congress had authorized the use of military force against Iraq, military operations were beginning, and a history class debate turned to war, military service, the draft, and America’s response.

Much of the discussion focused on what the country should do and what not acting might mean for America’s standing in the world.

What stood out to me was how little attention was given to the people who would be asked to carry out those decisions.

Not because anyone didn’t care.

Most simply hadn’t lived that reality.

That perspective has stayed with me ever since.
