Last night our membership came together to celebrate the accomplishments of our 2026 Firefighter Recruit Class and to recognize our newly promoted officers. Our firefighter recruits have dedicated countless hours to training, learning, and preparing for the responsibility that comes with serving our community. Graduation marks an important accomplishment, but it also represents the beginning of a career built on service, courage, commitment, and teamwork.

We were equally proud to recognize our newly promoted officers as they were officially pinned into their new positions. Promotion is more than a new title or insignia, it represents a greater responsibility to lead, mentor, support, and set the example for those entrusted to their leadership.

Battalion Chief Scott Feather from Colleton County Fire Rescue served as our keynote speaker. Battalion Chief Feather shared meaningful messages with our new graduates. “People you come into contact with have an influence on your life. People you come into contact with will mold you.” He also went on to talk about LOVE stating, “It’s okay to love what you do.”

We were also honored to have Jamie Helms, Executive Director of the South Carolina State Firefighters' Association in attendance to share this special evening and help us celebrate the accomplishments of our graduates and newly promoted officers.

The evening also provided an opportunity to honor the history and legacy of the fire service. Through funds made possible by contributions of all members, our department was proud to present a total donation of $10,000 to the South Carolina Firefighters Heritage Museum. A $5,000 donation was made in honor of Chief Frances Richbourg, and an additional $5,000 donation was made in honor of Chief Carter Jones. These donations recognize individuals whose names hold significance within Clarendon County Fire Rescue and the South Carolina fire service while also supporting the preservation of the history, traditions, and stories that have shaped generations of firefighters.

To our graduates and newly promoted officers, congratulations! Be proud of what you have accomplished, but never stop learning, training, growing, and earning the trust that comes with the badge and the rank you now wear.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the families, friends, instructors, department members, and everyone who supported these individuals throughout their journey. Achievements like these are never accomplished alone.

Firefighter Mobilization has been activated to assist with the large fire at the MLILY USA mattress manufacturing facility in Fairfield County. The incident has required an extensive response, bringing fire service resources together from departments across the state.

Members of Clarendon County Fire Rescue answered that call and are currently assisting alongside many of our fellow South Carolina fire departments.

Incidents like this are a reminder that when help is needed, the fire service goes beyond county lines. We are proud of our members for representing Clarendon County and supporting our brothers and sisters in Fairfield County.

If you noticed Clarendon County Fire Rescue apparatus along with the activity at Manning High School this weekend, it was all part of training!

Several of our members completed Emergency Vehicle Driver Training (EVDT), with the high school serving as the location for the hands-on skills portion of the course. Members practiced driving and maneuvering skills designed to help them safely operate emergency vehicles in a variety of situations.

Training like this helps ensure our firefighters are prepared to respond safely when our community needs us most!

Great job to everyone who completed the course and thank you to our training division and dedicated instructors for assisting! 🚒
