The Water Resources Center is having an Open House on Monday April 25th from 2:00 - 4:30 pm at Trafton Science Center S RM189 on the Minnesota State University Mankato Campus. The WRC staff, students, and faculty were away from Trafton for almost two years - a lot has changed and we would like to reacquaint ourselves with our colleagues. Please join us for refreshments and discover what the WRC has been working on.

This video is more an exercise in GIS but it tells a story about the need for a flood wall/levee in Mankato. Using a Digital Elevation Model, I created different levels of water for different elevations and matched those elevations to different stages of the river. This is not a true model but shows that much of North Mankato and west Mankato are below the river stage at times. The flood of 1965 did inundate North Mankato and west Mankato. The building of the flood wall in ~1985 has helped keep the river contained.
