I am pleased to announce we have a new firefighter. Olivia has completed all of her classes and is now a full member of our fire department. Thank you Olivia for your dedication and hard work these last few months.

Blue Earth County Emergency Management, in partnership with the cities (and some townships) within the county and the city of North Mankato, has been conducting a countywide siren assessment project. Siren testing will happen the week of April 20 (weather dependent). Throughout the week, residents MAY hear brief, intermittent siren sounds as part of the testing process. These tests will be short in duration. Testing may occur during daytime and evening hours and will occur throughout the week.

Important: In the event of an actual tornado warning, sirens will sound continuously for 2 full minutes.

Thank you for your understanding as we work to ensure our emergency warning system remains reliable and effective.

This Wednesday morning, SBFD personnel joined other area first responders in an emergency rescue exercise at Jaycee Park involving a State Patrol helicopter landing in the park. The Minnesota Air Rescue Team is providing training to local first responders. The team also demonstrated their rescue capabilities in the event their resources are needed for an emergency in the area.
