What does conservation look like in a year?

In 2025, it looked like practices installed across Manitowoc County, nutrients kept where crops can use them, sediment kept out of waterways, and landowners, farmers, staff, partners, and community members all doing their part to protect our soil and water resources.

Our 2025 Annual Report is complete, and this impact page gives a quick snapshot of the work accomplished this past year — including conservation practices installed and estimated phosphorus, nitrogen, and sediment reductions.

These numbers represent more than a report. They represent field visits, planning conversations, grant support, technical assistance, farmer leadership, landowner commitment, and partnerships that help protect the resources we all depend on.

A sincere thank you to everyone who contributed to this work in 2025.

Heads up! This field day has been canceled due to dry field conditions. Practices like planting green can provide tremendous benefits - but they also require careful management and consideration of current field conditions. Conservation isn't about following a recipe; it's about making informed decisions that set both the practice and the farm up for success. Stay tuned.

🚫EVENT CANCELLED🚫

Unfortunately, due to the lack of moisture and dry field conditions, tomorrow's Planting Green field day at Reichert Land & Cattle has been cancelled.

We appreciate your understanding and hope to share an updated opportunity in the future when conditions allow!

From supporting farmers and protecting water quality to building new educational tools for our community, 2025 was a busy and exciting year for Manitowoc County SWCD.

This year’s annual update highlights conservation partnerships, nutrient management education, innovative practices like cover crops and LDMI, watershed pilot projects, and the development of our new mobile learning trailer, “Land and Water Connect Us.”

We’re grateful to the farmers, landowners, schools, organizations, agencies, and community members who continue working alongside us to protect and improve Manitowoc County’s land and water resources.
