PaCMan: Ped and Cycle, Manitou Springs

PaCMan: Ped and Cycle, Manitou Springs We encourage and advocate for a Manitou Springs that is safe, convenient, accessible, and enjoyable to walk, roll, and bicycle for everyone.

Fiscally sponsored by 501(c)3 Bicycle Colorado https://bicyclecolorado.org/. PaC-MAN advocates for and encourages use of safe, connected, convenient, accessible pedestrian and bike infrastructure for Manitou Springs residents and visitors. PaC-MAN is a group of volunteers working to make Manitou Springs safer and more accessible for nonmotorized transportation (walking, rolling, cycling). PaC-MAN

evolved in response to pedestrian concerns over traversing safely through town after onset of the WAAP (Westside Avenue Action Plan) construction project. We were successful in advocating for safer pedestrian detours through the WAAP and have since expanded our influence on other projects in the community. PaC-MAN has advised on plans and projects such as: POST (Parks, Open Space and Trails Plan), Crystal Park Road safety, Ruxton Avenue Study, Creek Walk, MAPS (Manitou Ave from Park to Serpentine) project and WAAP. Our group has briefed City Council on the Complete Streets concept, developed design criteria for bike racks, advised placement of bike racks and repair stations, and coordinated with PikeRide and Urban Renewal Authority to bring bike share to Manitou Springs. We have also provided weekly public safety announcements to the Pikes Peak Bulletin, conduct Bike Friendly Driver and Auto Friendly Bicyclist training, and create fun bicycling opportunities such as the annual Mayor’s ride during bike month. While PaC-MAN’s focus is on identifying infrastructure improvements for nonmotorized transportation, we understand the importance of building partnerships and community, and work with other groups in Manitou Springs and the nearby area. If you are interested in joining or cooperating with our group, we would love to hear from you. PaC-MAN accepts applications via email at [email protected]

❓ Have you noticed the recent improvement near the front doors at the Manitou Springs Pool & Fitness Center ?

πŸ¦‹ We are jazzed to see a planter of overflowing, colorful blossoms and newly amended soil in the garden bed near the building.

🌼 Green spaces, canopy trees, sitting benches, etc. all enhance our quality of life (and pollinators), to include experiences whether out for a casual stroll or getting from point A to B.

πŸ‘€ Check it out sometime!
