Severe Thunderstorms possible this afternoon through tonight. Large damaging hail, extreme winds and possible flash floods.

Stay sheltered, tie down loose items outside and be mindful of rising water.

Listen for the city's flood warning siren. Should you hear this advanced alert system be prepared to move to higher ground.

Batten down and stay safe out there.

The Enhanced Risk for severe thunderstorms has expanded westward into the I-25 corridor cities. Please monitor the weather closely and take action QUICKLY if severe thunderstorms threaten. Get vehicles under cover early if you can, and do not drive into flooded roadways.

Today marks the 14th anniversary of the Waldo Canyon Fire, a tragedy that forever changed our community and serves as a powerful reminder of the risks we face living in and around our beautiful mountain landscapes.

As we remember the lives impacted, the homes lost, and the incredible efforts of firefighters, first responders, and neighbors who came together during a difficult time, we are also reminded of the importance of preparedness, mitigation, and community resilience.

Wildfire remains a year-round concern in Colorado. The lessons learned from Waldo Canyon continue to guide our efforts to reduce risk, strengthen our communities, and protect the places we call home.

Today, we honor those affected by the fire and recommit ourselves to being prepared for the challenges that come with living in a mountain community.

Hello Manitou! As you can probably tell (if you walked outside), its hot and drying. It's also windy! This is a High Fire Danger situation. Temps will cool tomorrow (6/18/26) but will be back in the 90's by Saturday. Avoid activities that could cause spark or fire. Stay vigilant and be on the lookout for fire activity. Stay safe Manitou and take care of your neighbors.

Fire Danger will be high in and near the mountains today. Use extra caution to avoid fire starts as gusty winds and dry conditions will result in rapid fire spread. Critical Fire Weather conditions will return across the central and southwest mountains on Thursday while the plains experiences a cool down.

CSFD Engine 3 was involved in a traffic collision this past Saturday (6/13/2026) while responding to a medical emergency.

This incident serves as an important reminder that the hazards first responders face are not limited to emergency scenes. A fully loaded fire engine can weigh up to 45,000 pounds and requires significantly more time and distance to stop and maneuver safely.

When you see emergency lights and hear sirens, please move over and give responding units plenty of room. Your cooperation helps ensure that firefighters, paramedics, and the public stay safe while emergency crews reach those in need as quickly as possible.

Good morning Manitou. As expected, High Fire Danger is returning to the area Wednesday (6/17/2026). We will see warming and drying trends as the week progresses. Be careful out there with spark and fire related activities. Stay safe Manitou!

High Fire Danger will return on Wednesday for the mountains, valleys and portions of the I-25 corridor. Gusty winds, low humidity, and dry vegetation will allow for rapid rates of fire spread. Avoid activities which could start a wildfire!

Our Neighbors at CSFD reminding everyone that as we approach Independence Day, please remember that most fireworks are illegal in the State of Colorado.

Fireworks pose a serious risk to our community, especially during the hot, dry summer months. A single spark can quickly ignite dry grass, brush, or structures, leading to devastating fires that threaten lives, homes (like in this post), and natural resources.

Leave the fireworks to the professionals and attend a public fireworks display instead. By following local regulations, you're helping protect your neighbors, first responders, and our community.

Let's celebrate safely and responsibly this Fourth of July.
