The Historic Pabst Building

The Historic Pabst Building Our building was built by Pabst about 1888, can't find the exact date. The storefront was originally the Pabst Blue Ribbon Marble Palace.

It is listed on the National Register of Historic Buildings via the Manistee Historic District. It remained a saloon for over 30 years, then a cafe for over 35 years. For almost 60 years now it ...has been a jewelers under various owners. The upstairs, where we live, was originally a tailors with a showroom in the front (now our parlor) and workshop in the back. Later it was a pool hall with servi

ce from the cafe. Not sure when, but then was made into two apartments. After buying the building, we made it into one which is a work in progress. An interesting fact: Buffalo Bill was arrested in the saloon for being disorderly when he was in town with his Wild West Show. Annie Oakley was here with him, so she might have been in the saloon too!
