One more Facebook fundraising push for this campaign. There are 56 days left until the November 3rd Election, and I could not be more grateful for all the donations that have come in so far.

Most politicians treat elections like a marketing campaign. They know through data analysis what kind of ads to send out, they know which voters are most likely to vote, they know not just your political affiliation, but the "strength" of that affiliation, and they know repetition creates the illusion of reliablity. Even the number of times you see an advertisement can be based around a simple marketing strategy.

I am a firm believer that elections should not be bought, and that people are more than just numbers on a spreadsheet. I don't have some grand marketing strategy. I meet voters face to face, hearing their individual concerns and answering any questions they ask. At this local level, that's how politics should be. So, when I use my campaign's resources, it's not to sway opinions, or to drown out my opponent’s messaging, I use it for yard signs, so voters can show their support, and I use it for campaign literature, that I hand out personally.

We have had decades of politicians that WE THE PEOPLE elect, who promise that they are different, that they have the answer to all our problems, and after election season is over that person disappears because it was all just marketing. If nothing else, I can say that the Voters of District 66 have met the real Me, not some idealized, falsified version of me. Who I am here, is who I will be in Topeka, the promises I make, are just as much my goals as they are yours, and I will take that authenticity to our State's Capitol, Starting November 3rd when you vote Noah Perry for Kansas House.

When I’m going door to door and people start asking if I need a water or if I want to step out of the heat for a minute, I know it’s about time to be done for the day.

In all seriousness though, thank you to the people who do step outside to chat on days like this, especially when I know I’m both interrupting whatever you were doing before, and dragging you into the sun. After a couple hours in heat like this I know I’m not giving the same energy I was at the start of the day, so I’m very grateful when people allow me to have these conversations with them anyway.

I think it is incredibly important, almost essential, for a politician to be willing and able to meet their constituents where they are. Hearing questions and concerns directly from people who may not otherwise have time to interact with public policy is the most basic responsibility of a candidate, and one I take very seriously.

As we head into the last two months of this campaign I want everyone to know I am in this race to win. I have been preparing and campaigning for well over a year now, and I am ready to begin this final stage. I’m committed to bringing this campaign across the finish line and providing Manhattan with some much needed representation.

We've reached the stage in my campaign I enjoy the least, asking for money.

For the last year I have been working towards the November 3rd general election for House District 66. The SparkNotes of this campaign start in July 2025, when I began talking about running for office. I was often met with confused looks in those initial meetings, nobody really expected someone my age to care about politics, much less dedicate well over a year of time and effort to try and be a small part of the system.

The next few months, I got to know the people of my district, going door to door, gathering signatures to get on the ballot. It's not required, it costs just $50 more to file without them, but I knew that it would be worth it. Putting forth that effort rather than just declaring myself "The Candidate for District 66", actually meeting hundreds of people who wanted to see change and be a part of making it happen was incredible to see, well worth the time.

The next milestone was crossed just recently. The Primary election. While I was unopposed, the time leading up to the filing deadline was honestly a bit stressful for me. At any point someone else within my party could have thrown their name in, and it would have changed everything. But as the weeks went by nobody did, and I retained the opportunity to represent my district in this election.

Now, I can't tell the full story of this campaign in one Facebook post. I've met so many amazing people along the way who have volunteered their time, given me advice, and heard my vision for the district. Whether they were elected officials, business owners, or voters at the door, I am grateful for the time I was given.

But now we've reached the point where confidence and a good pair of walking shoes won't be enough to win. In the last weeks of the campaign, I will need yard signs, physical and digital advertising. And while I will continue to meet with people, go door to door, and try to get my message out to the people in our district, right now I need your support.

Thoughts on this?

Personally I think this is a great move by the Haysville school district, and I think that we will see the benefits of this decision in the coming years if they stick to it.

To be clear, their classrooms will still have Chromebooks, but rather than each student having a personal device to carry around all day, they will check them out for specific assignments only when necessary.

The degree to which we have integrated technology into classrooms has proven to be irresponsible. Students are not performing at the levels we would like to see, the long-term effects of screens on developing brains are just now being revealed, and computer literacy itself has gone down in recent years.

Another point I’d clarify is, I don’t want to stop teaching students about technology, it’s almost essential for modern life, but I do think we need to stop integrating it into every part of their learning. Rather than immersing a child in screens and technology, we should teach them to properly use it as a tool in a more controlled manner.

It’s important to take a step back sometimes. Adjust our approach, and make sure that we are being responsible with our students’ futures. I do understand that many parents homeschool now, and rely on technology for their children’s education. It can work in specific cases, but when we are talking about the education system as a whole, I believe Haysville is making the correct decision.

Voter turnout in primary elections is notoriously low, which means voting now can make more of an impact than voting in the general election. This is your chance to choose who will represent your party on the ballot in November, just three months down the road.

While I am unopposed, there are still many races being decided today, and I look forward to seeing how this primary election resolves. Take the time and go vote!

I’m sure everyone is tired of hearing it, but I want to remind you that early voting is available for the August 4th primary election! I just voted today, and it took all of five minutes, so I encourage everyone to take the time and make their voice heard.

I am unopposed in the primary, but my name still appears on the ballot for House District 66. I appreciate everyone who has already cast a vote for me, and I hope to carry that momentum forward to the general election this November.

Today, while I was out going door to door, I had an interesting conversation with a voter. It’s always a little awkward to interrupt someone’s day and try to talk about politics, but it’s the right thing to do. People need to be informed, and candidates need to listen to their constituents.

I knew pretty quickly that this person and I wouldn’t agree on everything, but they were still willing to stop and chat for a minute.

After describing my platform, they asked me to explain my position on some more controversial issues, which happens much less often than you may expect. As we went through them, we quickly ran out of topics. It was kind of eye opening to realize how little stands between two “opposite” sides.

Yet another good reminder that social media often serves to show us the most extreme sides of the political aisle. There is incentive for these algorithms to do it. But in reality, where machines don’t dictate what we think or who we interact with, if we stop and talk with our neighbors, we’ll realize there are only a few topics that can divide us.

It’s often said that if you took 100 issues, you could find common ground with someone politically opposite from you on all but 3-5 of them. I believe that’s true for the vast majority of us.

I hope to earn the responsibility of representing my entire district, and that means compromise, hearing differing opinions, and making difficult choices. There is value in a dissenting voice that I believe is lost on many politicians. Our policies are never perfect. None of us have all the answers. To believe that would be pure arrogance.

Stay informed, the primary election is coming up in just a few weeks, and when that is done, we’ll move on to a new phase in my campaign.

As this post says, we do not do a good enough job protecting Kansas children. Mathematically a child is abused daily in Kansas yet we still fail to keep s*x offenders out of our schools, we fail to stipulate where they live, and we fail to hold them in prison for acceptable lengths of time.

While some recognition must be given for legislation such as Caleb’s Law going into effect, we still need to take more proactive steps towards securing the future of our State. I will continue to shout out Erin's Law, a very reasonable piece of legislation that our state sorely needs. I intend to make sure s*x offender residency laws are considered during the next legislative session, as well as Erin’s law, and other proactive measures that we can take to prevent more tragic incidents.

On a more positive and hopeful note it’s important to remember that Erin’s Law was received favorably when it reached the Education Committee, and was even blessed by Senate President Ty Masterson, but at the end of the day it wasn’t passed into law. Despite that disappointing outcome the energy in legislature last session was very positive, and I feel that the priorities of both chambers are shifting at least in part towards topics listed in this post. There are definitely exciting changes to look forward to in the coming years.
