South Bay streets can do more than just move cars — they can work as innovative rainwater capture systems that make our neighborhoods and beaches cleaner, greener and more resilient!

The Beach Cities Green Streets Project is doing just that by transforming neighborhood streets into innovative rainwater capture systems. This regional project brings a smarter, more sustainable approach to managing stormwater in the South Bay.

Using a combination of trees, permeable pavement, and underground dry wells, this project transforms over 15 segments of neighborhood streets into multi-benefit systems that percolate rainwater to help keep our beaches and ocean clean.

For more ideas on how you can support greener neighborhoods and healthier beaches, check out our South Bay Rainwater Harvesting webpage for more details!

🚧 Upcoming 26th Street Parking Lot Closure 🚧

Beginning June 8, the upper portion of the 26th Street Parking Lot is anticipated to close to support construction activities for the 28th Street Stormwater Infiltration Project.
The closure is necessary to maintain a safe work area for both construction crews and the public. Additional parking options will be available before the full parking lot closure, and advance notice will be provided.

Say hello to Wave Rider — the City’s new on-demand electric ride service launching this summer. For just $5 ($2.50 for older adults ages 55+) per person per ride, you can go anywhere in Manhattan Beach, in a 100% electric vehicle.

Here’s how it works: Download the Circuit app, request your ride, and a driver comes to you — no fixed routes, no stops, no schedules, no parking headaches. The fleet includes neighborhood electric vehicles, sedans, and a wheelchair-accessible van, covering everywhere from the beach to neighborhoods east of Sepulveda — and all the way to the Metro K Line at Douglas Station in El Segundo.

Perfect timing with the FIFA World Cup coming to SoFi Stadium this June. Whether you’re heading downtown for dinner, connecting to the Metro, or just skipping the parking scramble on a packed beach day — your wave is almost here.

Service begins TODAY! More info 👉 https://www.manhattanbeach.gov/Home/Components/News/News/5887/43
