d visitors enjoy their stay. The Police Department is staffed by a dedicated, hard-working team of 65 sworn and 40 civilian full-time employees, and operates under two Bureaus - Administration/Investigations and Field Operations.

Officers recently arrested this driver for DUI. Just after 6pm, he ran a red light at Marine Ave & Sepulveda Blvd and caused a traffic collision. Thankfully no one was injured in the collision, but he was found to be driving with a BAC of 0.16% (double the legal limit).

From August 19th through Labor Day, MBPD will have additional officers on patrol looking for drivers suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol & drugs. The additional efforts to prevent impaired driving are part of a national enforcement campaign, Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.

Let’s enjoy the end of summer! Designate a sober driver or use a rideshare service to get home safely. See a drunk driver? Call 9-1-1.

LASD Bomb Squad assists MBPD 🚔

Two potential explosive devices were found in a garage earlier today while it was being cleaned out.

Manhattan Beach Police officers quickly responded, evacuating a limited area and closing streets as a safety precaution. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Bomb Squad arrived and, out of an abundance of caution, took possession of the items.

We can confirm there is no threat to the community.

🚲 Caught in the act… and the e-bike is back where it belongs!

On 8/15 our undercover detective team working the Manhattan Beach Open Volleyball Tournament spotted two suspects casing a bicycle rack. One suspect unlocked it, handed it off, and the other female suspect took off down the bike path like it was hers.

With a combined team effort to include our drone team and patrol officers, the bike didn’t make it far.

Another successful recovery by the team. Props to our detectives for always keeping a watchful eye on our community.

Food was disappearing from a refrigerator inside a Manhattan Beach residence’s garage. The reporting party had no idea why, until officers arrived and discovered a subject living inside the garage, and ultimately arrested him.

A good reminder to keep your garage secured and stay aware of anything unusual around your property.

It was a great evening at Manhattan Beach PD’s National Night Out, hosted by Kinecta Credit Union. From police demonstrations to connecting with neighbors, the event was all about building relationships and celebrating the community we call home.

After stealing from a local business, a suspect tried to flee but left the stolen merchandise scattered across the parking lot when his bag broke. The property was recovered, and the suspect was caught shortly after.
