Our thoughts and prayers are with our FD12 fire family as well as family and friends of Operator Nikk Hurd.

It is with profound sadness that the members of St. Tammany Fire District 12 mourn the loss of one of our own, Operator Nikkolas Hurd.
Nikk dedicated his time, energy, and service to our department and to the community we are proud to serve. Beyond his service, Nikk was a friend, a brother, a son, and a valued part of our fire department family.
We are heartbroken by this loss and extend our deepest condolences to Nikk’s family, loved ones, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing and serving alongside him.
The fire service teaches us to stand together in times of crisis. Today, we ask our community and our members to do the same. Please keep Nikk’s family, friends, and our department family in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate this difficult loss.
Rest easy, Nikk. We will remember you, we will honor your service, and we will carry you with us.

🏗️ Station 44 Update

Progress continues on the renovation of Station 44, and things are really starting to take shape.

Last week, our EMTs and Paramedics sharpened their lifesaving skills during an Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) refresher led by Chief of EMS Vince Trabona.

Since joining our department in 1999, Chief Trabona has been a driving force behind the advanced training, equipment, and passion for saving lives that shape our response to medical emergencies. His dedication continues to make our department stronger and our community safer.

He even spent his birthday teaching, so we made sure his lunch break included a well-deserved celebration! 🎂

Happy Birthday, Chief Trabona! Thank you for everything you pour into our people, our department, and the community we serve. 🚑🎉

Firefighter Competition Registration NOW OPEN!!!! (link below)

Heroes at the Harbor brings firefighters together for a day of competition, camaraderie, and community while raising money for a great cause. This year, 100% of event proceeds will benefit Hope House Children’s Advocacy Center.

Fire departments and firefighter teams are invited to compete in a series of firefighter-based challenges designed to test strength, teamwork, skill, and determination.

🔥 INCREASED WILDFIRE DANGER 🔥

Dry conditions mean fires can spread quickly.

• Avoid outdoor burning if possible
• Never leave a fire unattended
• Fully extinguish all fires
• Watch for sparks and ignition sources

Earlier this afternoon, Mandeville Fire/EMS responded to a solid waste collection facility after a worker fell into a trailer and was unable to get out.

What started as a medical call quickly became a technical rescue operation. Our Technical Rescue Team went to work, safely accessing the patient, packaging them for removal, and bringing them out of the trailer so they could be transported to a local emergency room.

Calls like this are exactly why we train for the situations that aren’t routine. Proud of the teamwork, professionalism, and capabilities our crews brought to the scene today.

We are proud to announce that Mandeville Fire/EMS has officially been internationally reaccredited by the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI).

Reaccreditation is an ongoing process that reflects our commitment to constant evaluation, improvement, and providing the highest level of service possible to our community.

This achievement places Mandeville Fire/EMS in the top 0.35% of all fire departments in this nation and beyond, and reinforces the standard of excellence we strive to uphold every day.

We are proud of our team, thankful for their hard work, and honored to serve the citizens of Mandeville.
