Had a chance to sit down with Stephanie Hilferty who is running for PSC. She understands the role this commission provides to the state and is not running just to run for an office. She cares and has educated herself on the issues. Early voting has started she deserves your vote as well as mine.

📢 Mandeville City Council Update: E-Bike Regulations & Safety
Last night was a busy and productive meeting at the Mandeville City Council. We discussed several key community issues and officially passed two important ordinances aimed at keeping our public spaces safe.

🚫 New Motorized Vehicle Restrictions
To protect pedestrians and preserve our public spaces, E-bikes, motorized scooters, and dirt bikes are now restricted from the following areas:

Neighborwoods Park

The Mandeville Trailhead Area

🛑 A Message to Parents: Safety First
While the city can pass ordinances to manage where these vehicles operate, we cannot legislate common sense or substitute for parental guidance. With summer here, we need your help to keep our youth safe.

Please take time this week to talk to your children about traffic safety and the rules of the road.

Helmets are Essential: Given the high speeds these modern scooters, E-bikes, and dirt bikes can reach, wearing a helmet is critical to prevent severe injury—even where it isn't mandated by law.

Pedestrian Awareness: Remind them to yield to walkers and respect designated quiet zones.

Let's work together to ensure a safe, fun, and accident-free summer for all of Mandeville!

TEMPORARY CLOSURE: Please be advised that Richard Price Contracting will be installing a large drainage pipe across Brookside Drive just west of N. Causeway Blvd. This pipe installation is part of the larger ongoing LA 22 Drainage Improvements Project. This work will necessitate a temporary full road closure from June 2, 2026 to approx. June 16, 2026. This ending date may extend longer if necessary should weather or other factors affect the pipe installation. All business and residential areas access points will remain open and accessible to thru traffic via Lovers Lane to the south and LA 22 to the north.

TWO IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS:

1) Consistent with previous summers, the surrounding mayors and I who use Coastal Environmental Services, have agreed to allow them to begin garbage pickup at 5am instead of the usual 6am due to the summer heat. 5am pickup will begin on June 1 and end on September 1.

2) I have allowed the contractor working on the Lakefront Seawall Project to begin working on Saturdays. With Saturday work, they will be able to complete this section of the lakefront in time to clean everything up for our Independence Day “Light Up The Lake” celebration (stay tuned for more info on this as we have some extra special plans for America 🇺🇸 250!).
