The problem with hyperscale data center development is the “where” and the “how” more than the “what.” Most Americans are opposed to these industrial developments near residences developed in secret. If no information is shared about a proposed project and its environmental impacts, people assume a worst case scenario. Build in industrial zones and be transparent! And no more exemption from taxes!

Culture warrior Bill Tveit of District 33 defeated yesterday in the ND primary. Wake up legislators! Time to focus on bread and butter issues and not be distracted by outside special interests.

Six incumbent North Dakota legislators lost in Republican primary races Tuesday, including Rep. Jeff Hoverson and Rep. Bill Tveit, two lawmakers who championed culture war issues in recent sessions.

Do politicians support data center development in the US? According to this free Washington Post article, it’s a mixed bag. I say build in industrial zones not in neighborhoods or on farmland, no more hiding behind NDAs, and negotiate and sign community benefit agreements before permitting construction. And no more tax breaks and taxpayer funded electricity and water!

Voters are furious about the energy-guzzling behemoths that drive artificial intelligence, but politicians in both parties are cautious about backing all-out bans.
