On June 9, voters will be asked whether to continue the existing 0.75% sales tax for future fire and emergency facilities.
What It Funds➡ If approved, funding would support:
• Fire Station 3 & Emergency Operations Center
• Fire apparatus & equipment
• Future updates to existing stations
• Land for a future Fire Station 4
No New Tax➡ This measure does NOT create a new tax. It continues an existing sales tax already being collected.
Revenue would be redirected beginning in 2028, once the Starion Sports Complex is fully paid off—approximately 13 years ahead of schedule.
NW Growth➡ Mandan continues to grow—especially in the northwest portion of the city. Fire Station 3 would help ensure emergency services keep pace with development.
Strategic Planning➡ The City of Mandan’s 10 year strategic plan identified Fire Station 3 as a top priority for public safety.
Response Time Goals 🚒The Mandan Fire Department’s goal: Less than 4 minutes, 90% of the time.
Current Challenges➡ Travel time from Station 1 to Red Trail Elementary is approximately 11 minutes—and can exceed 13 minutes when crews are already responding elsewhere.
***Note: Mandan Rural Fire Department's mill levy election is for residents served by Mandan Rural Fire District, NOT those served by City of Mandan Fire Department.***
