Over the past two weeks, the Coffee County Emergency Management Agency conducted an 80-hour Hazardous Materials Technician training course. Participants included members of the Tullahoma Fire Department, Manchester Fire Department, Wi******er Fire Department, AEDC Fire Department, and TEMA. With this class, the number of certified Hazardous Materials Technicians in Coffee County has increased to approximately 50.

With 30 miles of interstate and several major highways running through the county, this expanded level of training ensures that the Coffee County Hazmat Team is better prepared to respond effectively should an incident occur.

The Coffee County Emergency Management Agency would like to thank all instructors who contributed to the course, including those from Giles County EMA, the Coffee County Sheriff’s Department, Tullahoma Fire, AEDC Fire, Manchester Fire, Ozone Environmental Services, and TEMA. We also extend our thanks to Coffee County EMS and the Coffee County Rescue Squad for their assistance during the scenario day.

A special thank-you goes to OES and Ikard Towing for helping create the most realistic training scenario possible. This course exemplifies how public and private partners can work together to enhance public safety.
