Beginning today, motorists should expect slower traffic around the Highway 55 (Exit 111) overpass, between Old Bushy Branch Road and Interstate Drive, due to a bridge replacement project.

Traffic will be reduced through the construction zone, and delays are likely, especially during peak travel times.

โš ๏ธ Please slow down, stay alert, and drive carefully through the area. Watch for changing traffic patterns, construction equipment, and workers.

Thank you for your patience as these important infrastructure improvements are completed. ๐Ÿš™๐Ÿšง

The Manchester Police Department is proud to offer the Senior Outreach Service, a free program designed to support the safety, independence, and well-being of senior citizens and disabled residents in our community.

Through weekly wellness check-ins, participants receive an added layer of support and peace of mind. If we are unable to reach a participant, their designated emergency contact will be notified, and when necessary, an officer may conduct an in-person welfare check.
To be eligible for the program, participants must be residents of the City of Manchester, be 60 years of age or older and/or disabled and complete the participation form.

Signing up is easy. Complete the participation form online or print the form https://www.cityofmanchestertn.gov/departments/police/community_relations/senior_outreach_service.php and bring it to the Manchester Police Department. Once your application is received, a member of the Manchester Police Department will contact you to schedule your introductory call and get you enrolled in the program.

If you have questions about the program, please give us a call. We look forward to serving our senior community and helping provide peace of mind for participants and their families.

* Update #1 *

One lane near the scene is passable so we have opened back up the interstate. Traffic delays should still be expected until the scene is clear.

** TRAFFIC UPDATE **

*** INTERSTATE CLOSURE ***

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is working a scene of a Semi-Truck Fire near the 124 EB mile marker.

Because of this, they have requested that the interstate be shut down to east bound traffic at the 114. All east bound interstate traffic is being forced to exit at the 114 and will be directed onto Highway 41 towards Hillsboro.

The estimated time for the interstate to reopen is unknown at this time.

Please be patient and allow extra time for your morning commute. Please drive carefully.

** OWNER IDENTIFIED **

The owner of this phone has been identified and we are in the process of returning it to him. Thanks!

This phone was recovered today (8/8) in the roadway near Walmart.

If this is your phone, call 728-9555 and ask to speak with Captain Adcock. He will have possession of this phone so that it can be returned to the owner.

If the phone is not collected today, it will go into evidence at MPD so that the owner will still be able to recover it.

I received this message this morning from lifelong city resident, Ms. Janice Qualls:
I called public works earlier this week to report a deep rut on Ragsdale Road. Several accidents have occurred in that area. Public works had the rut filled by early the following morning. I was very impressed on how quickly they fixed this. I wanted to let you know: they were kind and fast on fixing the edge of the road. I also want to call out Manchester Police Department for actively slowing speeding cars on Ragsdale. Its a 30mph area and often cars are doubling that speed. Two separate departments who deserve recognition for helping the citizens of Manchester.

Thank you, Ms. Qualls, and KUDOS to those departments for their great service to our customers, the city residents. If you have a shout out, l would love to hear it!

Today is an exciting day as students, teachers, school staff, and our School Resource Officers return for the first day of a new school year.

To all of our students, we hope you have a great first day and an even better year ahead. To our teachers and school employees, thank you for your dedication and commitment to helping our children succeed.

We also want to recognize our Manchester Police Department School Resource Officers, who play an important role in keeping our schools safe while serving as mentors, role models, and trusted members of the school community.

Let's all do our part to make this school year a safe and successful one. Please watch for school buses, obey school zone speed limits, and be mindful of students walking to and from school.

Best wishes for a safe, productive, and rewarding school year!
