Rescue Squad was formed in 1963 as a strictly volunteer organization, we currently have 33 members on our roster. We are a member of The Tennessee Association of Rescue Squads (T.A.R.S.). We are an Association of Life Saving, Rescue and First-Aid Units with members organized, trained and equipped for various types of rescue and first-aid work. Members voluntarily give of their time and effort WITH

OUT compensation to assist victims in all types of accidents including, but not limited to, drownings, Swift water, Grain Bin Rescue, Structural Collaspe, Trench Rescue, Low Angel, High Angel Rope Rescue and lost persons to name a few. We help educate the public in these procedures by demonstrating and showing our equipment at local schools, fairs and career days. was organized on January 14, 1955, and is incorporated under the statutes of Tennessee as a voluntary non-profit organization. From the original charter group of five squads, T.A.R.S. has grown to 108 squads with approximately 4,000 members-stretching through 4 Regions from Bristol to Memphis. Some of the accomplishments of T.A.R.S. include a proclamation by the Governor of a statewide Rescue Squad Week, designing and distributing a T.A.R.S. flag and logo which is a registered trademark, and the development of efficient procedures for region and statewide operations. Last year alone T.A.R.S. instructors taught approximately 800 classes with over 7,500 participants across the state with the state office handling the record keeping and printing of the certificates. 🚨 National Rescue Squad Week 🚨

During National Rescue Squad Week, we proudly recognize the volunteers who dedicate their lives to serving others β€” often without hesitation, recognition, or rest.

At the Coffee County Rescue Squad, our members train countless hours to prepare for emergencies that most people hope they never experience. From dangerous rescue scenes to long nights away from home, our volunteers continue to answer the call because helping others is more than a duty β€” it is a passion!

Behind every pager tone is a VOLUNTEER willing to leave the comfort of their home, family dinners, holidays, birthdays, jobs and sleep to help someone they may have never met before.

This week is not only about recognizing the calls we respond to β€” it is about honoring the heart behind the badge. The teamwork, sacrifice, and compassion that Rescue Squad members show every single day.

We also want to recognize the families of our volunteers. Thank you for the late-night worries, missed time together, interrupted holidays, and constant support you provide behind the scenes. Without you, none of this would be possible.

For over 60 years, the Coffee County Rescue Squad has proudly served our community through emergencies, disasters, and difficult times. Even after devastating setbacks, our volunteers continue to rebuild, continue to train, and continue to serve with pride and dedication. Through every challenge, our volunteers continue to stand ready to respond whenever needed.

We are incredibly thankful for every current member, past member, mutual aid department, dispatcher, family member, and supporter who stands behind us and helps make our mission possible.

To every Rescue Squad member past and present:
Thank you for your sacrifice.
Thank you for your courage.
Thank you for your heart to serve.
