6/7/2026 at 1757 hrs an automatic fire alarm was transmitted for East Manchester Township, Box 23-15, at the Starbucks Roasting Plant. Duty Officer 10 arrived to meet with plant personnel who reported a fire in the roaster. The assignment was upgraded to a High Risk Structure Fire. Investigation by Chief 10 from Engine 23-2 found a smoke and heat condition in the roaster room, fire in the roaster duct to the stack on levels 3 and 4, with extension to the insulation at the roof line. The ducts on Level 3 were red hot. Engine 23-2 crew pulled their Yamaha load for suppression, Tower 89 and Engine 89-5 were assigned to roof operations, Engine 23-1, Engine 22-2, and Tower 99-1 supported Engine 23-2 with interior operations. MICU 97-31 was assigned Rehab. A Working Fire assignment was transmitted at 1811 hrs bringing Rescue 26 for air service, E89-3 for RIT and EMS Intermediate unit 2-51. Interior crews had a tedious task of cooling the duct system externally from elevated platforms on the roaster rack with limited access. This before using demo-saws to cut the ducts open and extinguish the fire on the inside. The manpower intensive work required the addition of Engines 502, 26-1 and Tanker 27 for manpower. The fire was marked under control at 1920 hrs, and units returned to service at 2000 hrs.
