Nearly 30 years after sitting in her 6th grade classroom, Sgt Machain had the privilege of surprising his former teacher with a ride to her retirement party at Tuck’s Point - and, of course, after spinning the Beach!

We love ‘full circle’ moments like this and being able to give back to the community. Congratulations, Mrs. Gould, on your retirement - you’ve earned it! 🎉🍎📓

Congratulations to Sergeant Jennifer Shrewsberry on successfully completing all three FBI LEEDA leadership courses and earning the prestigious FBI LEEDA Trilogy Award.

This milestone reflects a strong commitment to professional development, leadership, and continued service to the Manchester-By-the-Sea Police Department and the community we serve.

The Trilogy Award is earned by completing FBI LEEDA’s Supervisor Leadership Institute, Command Leadership Institute, and Executive Leadership Institute. This is a significant accomplishment and one that represents dedication to continued growth in law enforcement

The Manchester-By-the-Sea Police Department has also been awarded the FBI-LEEDA Agency Trilogy Award. The entire Command Staff has completed the FBI-LEEDA Trilogy Leadership series — the Supervisor Leadership Institute, the Command Leadership Institute, and the Executive Leadership Institute.

***UPDATE***
The cat has been reunited with their owner. Thank you for your help.

The Manchester-by-the-Sea Police Department is seeking assistance in locating the owner of this cat, which was found on Elm Street.

The cat appears to be ill and is currently in our care. Our Animal Control Officer is working closely with a local veterinarian to ensure it receives the attention and treatment it needs.

If you recognize this cat or believe it may belong to you or someone you know, please contact the Manchester-by-the-Sea Police Department as soon as possible.

Please share this post to help us reunite this feline with its family.

Earlier today, Sergeant Stephen Louf proudly represented the Manchester-by-the-Sea Police Department at the annual Cruiser Convoy and Special Olympics Massachusetts events.

Joining approximately 250 law enforcement vehicles from across the Commonwealth, Sgt. Louf participated in the Cruiser Convoy, one of the most visible and inspiring traditions supporting Special Olympics athletes. Following the convoy, he had the privilege of helping present medals to the incredible athletes whose determination, sportsmanship, and achievements continue to inspire us all.

The Cruiser Convoy and Law Enforcement Torch Run are more than just events—they are a testament to the strong partnership between law enforcement and Special Olympics Massachusetts. Last year, these efforts helped raise over $1.5 million for Special Olympics programs, and organizers are hoping to surpass that remarkable milestone this year.

We are incredibly proud of Sgt. Louf for his continued commitment to this outstanding cause and for representing our department and community with such dedication. His participation reflects the values of service, compassion, and community engagement that make these events so special.

Please join us in congratulating all of the athletes and in supporting the mission of Special Olympics Massachusetts.

Today, members of the Manchester-by-the-Sea Police Department were honored to take part in our community’s Memorial Day observances alongside veterans, families, and residents as we remembered the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

Memorial Day is a time to reflect on the courage, dedication, and selflessness of those who gave their lives defending the freedoms we enjoy every day. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.

We also pause to remember the members of our own department who have passed before us — officers who proudly served both their country and the Town of Manchester-by-the-Sea. Their commitment to duty, community, and service continues to be remembered and honored.

Thank you to everyone who joined us today in paying tribute to our nation’s fallen heroes.

We remember them always.
